Make 'em yourself. Post articles on article-sharing websites (good quality articles, not spam). Promote using social media and social bookmarking. Use forum profiles and signatures.

I wrote articles on Ezine, Go articles, Squidoo, HubPages, Factoidz, Triond, Typepad, Blogger, Associated Content, and more, and now, if I can be bothered, I should probably write more articles, linking to those articles. I'd say I'd probably do just as well to spend my time writing on my site, not off it.

      +1

The thing about posting articles to directories that has always annoyed me is that it creates more competition for the page on my site that I want to rank!

There's another benefit to posting the article on your own site. Assuming it targets the same keywords you can easily end up owning several positions if not dominating all of page 1.

Not only blog posting is enough for backlinks. Also forum is much better for quality backlinks but do it with relevant authority sites. If you are done forum and blog comment with .edu and .gov sites, it is more beneficial to your site.

Yeah. Commenting on other blogs is a pretty good way to get links, assuming you actually put some thought into what you say. Some of the dofollow blogs I have bookmarked are interesting, so it is usually pretty enjoyable.

    1. Blog comments
    2. writing articles and submitting them to this article list
    3. writing press releases and submitting to press release directories
    4. social media - build up a twitter following by answering others questions and following like minded people (many will follow you back)
    5. find related blogs and offer to write unique articles for them with a link in it back to your site
    6. register with social bookmarking sites and bookmark your pages.

Start with your vendors, partners, associations or other entities you have relationships with, look for directories in your vertical, use content-as-linkbait techniques, find as many related web properties in your niche as you can, but don't beg, build relationships and offer value, then get the link. Also look at my "using Google Alerts" thread posted previously, you'll be glad you did!

Those techniques will get you highly relevant backlinks that will stick and pass very good linkjuice. BTW, don't worry about if they're nofollowed.

      Hope that helps,
      David

You can get quality links back from article submission, forum posts and many other techniques out of the page, all you have to worry about the quality of the site where you will place the links. Sites must be relevant to your site and if you follow, can have a benefit of link juice too.

there are lots of ways, i mean, free ways you can use to get quality backlinks.
for example, you can submit articles to high quality article directories, such as, high PR sits, those sites will commonly have a high reputation in search engine, correspondingly, links from those sites are high quality links.
the above is the most effective and free one, but if you want to submit articles to high quality sites, your articles are also need to have a high quality.
besides you also can use blog comment. also a very good way to try.

Hubpages is pretty good, although the pages typically have a lot of OBL. You can also post articles on EZA, do guest postings, or create your own site network.

I prefer to use Blog commenting backlinks, especially since the comments are left on the exact high PR page, and not lost deeper in on a PR N/A as with forum backlinks.
