Migrating from one domain to another?

Is it possible to change your domain name while still keeping "most" of your PR and rankings on Google?

Will there be any issues with duplicate content?
I mean, when you change your domain name, the pages from your old domain will still be cached in Google and I think this may cause some Duplicate Content trouble for the new domain that will start getting cached before the old is gone from Google's cache???

Is there a way to tell Google that you are now using a new domain and all your great, original content from your old domain is still great, original and owned by you, just under a different domain?

In other words, is there a way to tell Google: "Listen, b*tch, from now on, this new domain will be used in place of the old one, so treat all my old backlinks as ones, pointing to this new domain and give me all my old rankings back, you f*ck."

  • Anyone done this?
I'm sure somebody has changed domains before.
  • easy, set up the new domain with the original content and then do 301 redirects of old urls to new urls.
