On-Page: Google Ranking Factors - SEO Checklist

Off-Page: Build a constant flow of quality links to your pages with strong anchor text, though not 100% of your links should be anchor texted and there should be variance in the anchor text used.

Make sure to get links of all kinds from all sorts of places. The more variety the better. A single HIGH QUALITY LINK is worth thousands of low quality ones, but the low quality ones still count.

    Have fun.

There re two important factors in SEO namely On Page and Off Page Optimization, On Page is mainly on structuring the and involve by meta tags. Off Page must be prioritized and creation of high-quality content.

      Thanks, ExploringInfinity.

      And thanks, JaySam.

      ExploringInfinity - I presume you're Vaughn...?

      That link is really useful.

If you have a minute, I have a few questions...

I'm posting some other questions in a new thread too, and just included questions that are directly related to that link here:

      First section, item 15:

"The filename "linked to" should contain the keywords."

Does this mean the words in the url should be keywords?

      First section, item 16:

Your link to the link checker took me to roundcube webmail - is that the correct link for that?

      item 26:

hypens in url - "Four or more= bad"

What about WordPress blog posts? WordPress automatically separates words in the title of a post with hypens...

      items 27, 28, and 30 - Keeping content fresh

Would fresh posts in a WordPress blog that is on a domain that is on a site that is not all WordPress be adequate for this?

And is either of the following formats for urls better for the blog:

      domainname dotcom / blog

      blog dot domainname dotcom

      ?

      Section 3, item 65:

      Incoming links from high-ranking pages

...is there any more recent update on this?

And any more detail on the number of links that Google report and from what PR-number sites? To help as a guide for what sites will be useful and what sites not so useful.

      Section 3, item 76:

Is there any way to check what the expert sites in a particular industry are?

      Section 3, item 90:

Is there a good checklist on building a tree structured site directory?

In Section 4, "Change of meanings"

"Query meaning changes over time, due to current events" -- I don't understand what this means...?

If you have time to look at some of these questions, I appreciate it...

      Or if someone else does...

      If not, no probs.

I have alot of content on my site but I offer alot of services thru my roofing and remodeling company. The problem I have is getting a good ranking on everything not just one or two things. I feel like I need a whole staff just to keep up my ranking.

  • On Page Elements - Titles, Headings (H1, H2's, H3s's, etc.), Site Architecture and of course Content.

Off-Page Elements - Diversity of links. Directories, Social Bookmarking, Tweets, Guest Posts, and Comments.

For good seo you have to write the quality and fresh contents, don't do spamming and don't copy any contents from the other comments for better result of your website.

Many people know the importance of having a website with SEO. Search engine optimization allows websites a much higher chance of being viewed. With out SEO websites will have a hard time being found through search engine searches. What many people don't know is how to properly go about finding the right SEO company.

While building the site you should consider all the onpage seo factors like building relevant meta tags, link titles, alt tags, unique content, xml and html sitemaps, robots file and so on and while doing promotional activities you should consider all the off page seo factors such as directory submmissions, classified submissions, article submissions, blog postings, forum comments and so on..

A lot of people forget to mention internal linking with seo while it is very important and I also recommend you do that.

Internal: tags and good written content.

External: Lots of backlinks that are very varried in type (web2's, blogs, comments, scrapes, etc ect ect etc)

A bit of advice though, if you're REALLY new to seo you need to go read up on a book about it first. Then take that basic knowledge in terms, and stuff and come back to a forum like this and THEN you'll be able to actually absorb the knowledge that's being handed out around here. Forums aren't very noobie friendly unless you know the basics first. Check amazon for a good read.
