Hi all,

I need a little help about one simple thing:

what is the difference between dofollow and nofollow backlinks?

Thank you,
John

No follow means that search engines will not pass link juice through the link. For humans it's the same either way.

Google the term or look it up on Wikipedia for the full explanation.

Also your question is in the wrong forum section - there's an SEO section.

Dofollow - Get link juice pass over
Nofollow - Do not get link juice passed over.
    dofollow > nofollow

Do follow backlinks are those backlinks that are getting indexed by search engine spiders where as no follow links will not get indexed by spiders but you will get visitors from nofollow links..

Yes... ok, but what is link juice?

I read a few SEO guides, but English is my second language and it's sometimes very hard to understand terminology. So, I registered myself on the best IM forum on the Internet looking for some advice.

    Thanks for understanding.

Link Juice = The 'weight' that the page has based on all the links that point to it. Similar to Page Rank. Google Page Rank to learn all about it.

    HTML Code:
    <a href="http://example.com" rel="nofollow">My anchor text</a>
This above is a nofollow link.

Now below is a dofollow link:

    HTML Code:
    <a href="http://example.com">My anchor text</a>
This basically means Dofollow links get followed by Search engines (they pass pagerank) and nofollow links do not.

Yes Agreed With This. And One More This is That..

Dofollow-->> Says google Crawler to Go For That Link Which is There.

Nofollow-->> Means User Don't Want google to Go for that Link. Now this is Google Decision That Crawler Want to Go there Or Not.

      Thanks.

    Thank you all!

And you should have both of these backlinks to your website, right?

Google index dofollow back links in own algorithm and Google does not index nofollow back links so this is the major difference.

If you have a website and you're giving link to another website then you may give your link code as rel="no follow". Usually Google never crawls no follow links. Google crawls only Dofollow links and its give you link juice.

in the easiest way to under stand the difference between dofollow or nofollow. Dofollow links are much effective to your site and no follow links are useless.

So, for example, how can I know if some article directory has dofollow links? Or every directory has?

Or when I submit replay, how can I know if it is dofollow?

Is it that I determine if link is dofollow or nofollow by the code above?

Do not ignore the effect of no-follow backlinks, it could impact on SERP.

I tend to agree with this. It's hard to know for sure, though. There's so much back and forth about the value, or lack thereof, of nofollow links.

sometimes, the nofollow links will be counted into the site seo value if the backlink is made from the high reputation sites.I think as long as they are useful to rank and google like them,no any big difference between them.

A lot of do follow links have less benefit than no follow links. The truth is, nobody really knows for sure. When I make a Facebook page, or a You Tube video, or tweet, stumble, or whatever, I'm more concerned about traffic than link weight. Ninety percent of my traffic is from social sites, and I'm making a few sales from it.

    • A "Dofollow" Link is a hyperlink that is able to tell search engines to pass along it's page rank influence to an outbound link.
    • A "Nofollow" Link is exactly the opposite. It is a hyperlink that removes the ability to pass on it's page rank status to other sites.

I am not sure if no follow is useless, I believe that they have some role in the SEO game. DO FOLLOW back links from High Page rank pages are the best for your website. These kinds of links lets your website get authority on the Search Engines.
Downside these kinda links are expensive.

It seems that everyone is chasing on do-follow links! Well, me too!

But since the no-follow links can impact on SERP, we should pay more attention to it!

The Dofollow links are counted by Google when they will have to give a certain PR, Nofollow can only bring you traffic with no other benefit.

No follow put in Robots tags so it will not be crawled by the any search engines crawlers while do follow use Robots tags to crawl the page by any search engine crawlers.

Do follow links are useful to get the traffic, back links and high PR but the no follow links are useful to get the traffic only.
