[SIMPLE QUESTION] does Disqus comment count

Well, the titled says it all,,,,

I've been considering to focus all my backlinking plan to commenting on high PR dofollow blogs. I've done that for several days and got quite good result (in 2 weeks my web has gained 2nd page for my main keywords, raised from 3rd page last week) .

Firstly, I tried to comment on wordpress platform, but without any clear reason my comment never appears. Some suppose that i've been banned by akismet. And neither can I post comment on commentluv or keywordluv blogs.

I've stumbled across a blog which recommends posting on disqus blog yet I'm quite sceptical about its effectiveness since some people say that the backlinks wont count as google can't read the java script.

Not only that, by default, Disqus comments are no-follow.

yes, they are, but I've found a handful which is dofollow and with PR 4-5...
Can you recommend other blog platform ?
Btw, I dont have have scrapebox, just commentblaster and sick scraper in which I use them to harvest and then I'll do the commenting manually......

I've also tried to find high PR forum thread with no more than one page so when I post my anchor text will be in the same page as the thread. I've tried this but only get a few of 1-2 PR page, possibly to due the fact that I only use one footprint...

Yes they count. They are nofollow and definitely should not be your only link building platform, but they do count.

I avoid posting with Disqus because, like you said, the comments are generated with Disqus javascript.

As far as I'm concerned, GoogleBot can't crawl the links because they aren't generated within <a> tags but are placed within <a> tags using JavaScript. That is if the Disqus platform used on the site isn't even hiding every comment if JS is disabled (which some do, like Engadget).

Until someone can prove the bot can crawl those links, I remain sceptical.

Just a popular tech site which uses Disqus for its comments. I only mentioned that site because if javascript is not enabled, not a single comment is shown. Whereas many other Disqus sites will just show all the comments in a long list of text.

Do you have any other sites like that ??Which shows your link even when the JS is off or even in the page source??

I do not think google can crawl disqus comments,
I have seen disqus take 1 minute to load on sites, the comments IMO are not REALLY on the site, they are kind of half on the site half coming from the disqus site

Have you ever seen a disqus comment indexed by google. Have you ever searched google and a disqus comment came up in the serps? I have NEVER seen it

Why don't you guys simply type in a unique phrase and then search for it in a couple of weeks' time?

  • It seems a lot of people are on the fence about discus comments. In my research I found that about 50% of people feel it counts 50% others does not count. I did find a way to make the discus comments do follow in wordpress but again not sure that google reads the js.

Goobot only sees the page source AFAIK. If you search for a Disqus comment poster's name in page source, you won't find it even though it show on the page.
