i recently got my a site hosted on bluehost after a year of having a wordpress.com blog. I moved all my content there and deleted my wordpress.com site.

the thing is. my wordpress.com site is still indexed in google and is actually beating me in google rankings. the sad thing is that when people visit that site it says that the site was deleted.

i initially though that the rankings would drop since the site was deleted but it didn't. its really a pain since i'm losing potential visitors in the process.

my newly hosted site is a week old already.

help!

My suggestion would be to recreate the wordpress.com blog, with different content and add links to your new site.

That way you get the benefit of the link juice from the wordpress.com site and potentially get visitors to your new site.

i was suppose to do that earlier but it seems that if you delete a wordpress.com blog you can't recreate it with the same name.

If you go to Google Webmaster tools there is a tool for asking Google to remove pages or a site from the search results. You can read about how and when to use it here Remove a page or site from Google's search results - Webmaster Tools Help

      thanks rosetrees!

i think i should just monitor it for 1 month since they say that the website would eventually drop off in time. If it still doesn't i should use that tool you linked to thanks!

The site will definitely drop in rankings. Its just a matter of time...
