I decided to give back to the community!

First off I just want to say that the most important advice I can give about internet marketing is to never be discouraged and give up. Always keep at it, eventually it will pay off.

With that being said, I have a website that one week ago was sitting at position 300+ on Google. In fact all of the keywords I was targeting were. After one week of consistent work I have taken all of my main keywords to the top ten of Google.

So how did I do this? How did I rank so quickly for keywords that have 197,000, 414,000, even upwards of 800,000 competing websites!

Well I had just gotten out of a Google Sandbox. I had taken some bad advice, and done some link exchanges and other morally gray things to my website.

I do apologize I will not give out every detail of how I accomplished this, but I will give you the basics of it.

I started creating backlinks every single day. I stayed consistent creating between 30 and 50 backlinks a day to my webpages. I did not just target one page I created several links to each of them. This way I created basically a web of links between my pages. I checked everyday and was seeing results so I kept at it. on the 6th day of the week I had gotten almost all my keywords to the top 20 positions but I wasn't completely satisfied with that.

So that night I stayed up late and wrote a 5000 + word article that I created a page for on my website, but targeted different keywords then any of the ones I was targeting. I was pretty sure I would not rank for these keywords considering they had over 2,000,000 competing websites, but that was not the reason I did it. It just happened that these keywords worked perfectly for the article I was writing. I researched them using Google keyword tool. I picked the best one and made it the main keyword of my webpage. Then I wrote my article and sprinkled in the other keywords I had researched that had less competing websites and search volume. I also made sure to include some of the main keywords I was targeting for my other web pages as well.

I added a link to warriorforum and a few other authority websites to my article and published my page. THe next day I woke up and by the afternoon I was sitting at the top positions!

I am not saying this will necessarily work for anyone, just explaining how I did what I originally thought impossible. When I started seeing results was when I sat down and said screw everything I have tried in the past or learned from all sorts of marketing products I have used. I need to experiment, I need to take charge and test things for myself.

To your success,

Dan

Well done Dan, if you add regular content too it should hopefully stay there and not bounce too much (assuming). Bet your fingers were smoking after 5000 words!

Nice to see how actions bring results though.. congrats.

Just curious. You said you created 30 to 50 backlinks a day, what kind of backlinks did you create? Did you do it yourself or hire others to do it?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[4630558].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author dsbusiness23
Yes I did create the backlinks all by myself. I had some youtube accounts I hadn't touched in months that had a few videos with over 3000 views, one of them had 25,000 views. I was stupid and had never added a link to these videos, dumb lol. I set up some forum accounts and started posting on them and created a profile with a link. I also found some .gov and .edu sites and went ahead and wrote some informative comments. I also did the tedious work of typing into google add url and submitting my websites for index. I did this to help google find my links faster. I also have a plugin on my wordpress sites called Backlink Energizer that helps with indexing to.

    Dear OP,

Very well done on your progress. I just wanted to clarify for you, that you are not competeing against the high volume of sites that you think you are.

That isn't your real competition. It is likely that that volume of websites is just the number of results that google spits out for your keywords.

It is probably not the same as the much lower number of actual sites that you are really competing against.

just trying to help you :-)

Good to see someone manual ranking their sites. I just outsource, gives me a lot more time to work on other important projects.

I paid a girl on Fiverr to do some edu backlinks for me. This was the first time I've ever outsourced anything.

I have to say, I too been noticing that quality 1000+ word articles are ranking really well nowdays, google is slowly moving away from ranking really shallow content, however, there are sites with shallow or no content that still rank well.

One of the biggest things these days is the visitor experience, if the visitor takes 10 minutes to read your 5000 word article and spends some extra time on your site, you are going to get rewarded for that of course, google wants an improved visitor experience.

To help yourself get people to stay longer on your sites, include interesting, relevant you tube videos and entice your visitors to watch them, you can put them at the end of the post if you like and that will still work well

Keep user experience in mind and your sites will start doing a whole lot better, don't over stuff affiliate links, and as mentioned by Dan, its a good idea to link out to authority sites, it does help.

    Great post Dan.

Writing an article of 5000 words for a single has not come into my mind before. I gotta put away my restriction of writing in 200-400 words per post. I will try writing over thousands of words and see if it can improve my ranking and SEO

No problem everyone. Thanks so much for all the congrats I really appreciate it! I am like on cloud nine. Since this was my biggest accomplishment ever in my mind. I felt after all the things I had taken advice from so many other people on here that I felt I definitely owed a little something back and that is why I created this thread. To help out and encourage anyone who may be struggling and reassure that with a little hard work and consistency you can rank even without outsourcing. I mention outsourcing because I think there are many people who believe that is the only way to succeed, but that just isn't true! Where would we all be if it was required when we started out. I know I would be broke.

Hope I helped! to your success,

      Well done Dan.

Can you give us an idea of what type of keywords this was for?

Also, competing pages is not a good indicator of your real competition. In fact, the numbers you mentioned were very small in terms of competing pages. Sometimes I struggle to get a page ranked for a term with only 150,000 competing pages but can rank a page with millions.

Why? Because competing pages is an indicator of ALL the pages on the web that are (even to the most scarcest degree) in some way related to that search query. The most relevant is ranked at #1.

In fact I've managed to get a website to #2 for a term with 80.2 million competing pages.

How? There were 80.2 million pages that used that term (in a very broad sense) across the web, yet my page was deemed the 2nd most relevant out of all of them. It's all about relevancy.

My title tags, content, links, everything had that term in them yet the other 80 million or so pages didn't optimise as well as me.

Albeit this term isn't extremely competitive and only has low search volume. If it WERE competitive with high search numbers, you can bet there'd be a lot more relevant pages than my own, because people out there would put the effort in to optimise them better.

I hope that makes sense and congrats once again on your efforts.

All the best for the future!

      Aaron.

My main keyword which went to position #6 was for a keyword with over 40,500 searches per month for phrase match and over 9000 searches per month for exact match. Also it is in the make money online niche. When I used advanced search on Google and chose all in title then also searched with quotes I got a result of 177,000 results for competing websites. The truth is the only websites I really care about though are the ones in the top ten They are my real competition.

You can search your keyword allintitle by entering into google allintitle: "your keyword"

Market Samurai says that the total daily value you could potentially get for a #1 position is $167 a day for exact match and $679 a day for broad search.

Again Thanks for the words of encouragement!

The manual linkbuilding is interesting. How long each day did it take you to do the 30-50 backlinks? Do you choose backlinks from websites that are related to the industry/website you are promoting? Or do you build your links with backlinks that have no relation to the website you are promoting? Also, do you use any tools find the places you use for backlinks? Thanks

Well, I've been article marketing (with some good spins.), social bookmarking (daily, with a variety of titles and descriptions), I'm using those seeming waste of time .edu links that I bought here, have made an RSS feed of the articles published, submitted my various RSS feeds to directories, have created my own article directory and several of my own bookmarking directories, have multiple blogs that are updated daily with original quality content provided by my students, do forum profiles and signature links, leave quality posts in forums and on blogs, and update my content.

I also made a lot of personal videos about my topic posted on youtube, vimeo and some of the other places, I update my fanpage and twitter regularly (and use ping.fm) and I hired someone two weeks ago to give me some high quality backlinks.

I also ping a lot of things, as appropriate.

My site has H1 tags and different description on all the pages, which all have original content I wrote myself.

I have trouble believing that it's as easy as creating some backlinks on forums every day. I spent hours every day doing a little bit in each category of things and my ranking has not moved at all. I'm #7 for my keyword.

I'm spending so much time trying to increase the ranking of my site that I am not spending the time doing what I want to do with branching out and doing new things.

What's the magic bullet? What's the one secret element I'm missing?

Are you taking advantage of smart internal linking? Are you getting any high PR links? Sounds like you're putting in a lot of work, how competitive is your keyword? Lots of private networks advertised here on the forums, you can always take a look at those for some pretty cheap high PR links.

      Just a thought.

        Just a thought.
For internal linking, I have (according to my google tools) around 300k or so. Seems like a huge number to me, but I'm just going by what it says.

I'm hoping I just need more high PR links because I did hire someone from here to do some high PR linking for me over the next little while. He told me to expect to see results in the next 30 - 60 days. It's hard to be patient.

I started linking some of those (seemingly useless) .edu links I bought to each other to give each of them some backlinks. One-way links, but still. I think when I checked one of them, it had 13 links now (one post), so I'm hoping if I can sprinkle those post links around a bit, those posts themselves will get a little juice. Right now, it was just a waste of money. I'm not sure why everyone was raving.

I'm not talking about the 50 .edu forums because that just happened. He did deliver more than he promised, but it'll be a little while before I see anything from it.

I guess I'm just tired. I spend too much time trying to rank my site and not as much time as I need to responding to emails, creating new materials, etc. I wouldn't mind except that I'm getting nowhere, it seems.

There are only about 4 or 5 other sites that I'm in any competition with for the keyword. According to recent numbers by my google tools, I have about 140k links pointing to my site. These come from a lot of different places and a lot of them have at least a PR2 that they're coming from.

I need some higher ones. I have a lot on high PR domains, but that isn't worth diddly, it seems.

How long does it take for the higher PR links to start making a difference?

For those of you who have bought some, how long did it take?

That comes down to the marketer. Take a look at viperchill.com (not affiliated) Almost all of his article are about 3000-6000 words. It's different for everyone. In my situation I feel that I should have just broke it into several different articles.

More real estate for me instead of just one big mansion. In any case I think one of the most important things I need to say here is that you always want to only target one keyword on each page. If you spread yourself too thin targeting multiple keywords you will never rank for anything. I owe everything I know to my mentor. She has taught me everything that I know.

I have abandoned manually posting everything because she sent me all the links to the best software out there. I currently use Scrapebox, SENuke, Article Marketing Robot, Blog commenting Ninja and as of last night Wiki links blaster. These software feel like must have products to me now.

Manually posting can work great if you are dealing with a low competition keyword. However if your competition is creating hundreds of links with software every day how could you possibly compete. I still do some manual linking for the highest quality links too as well.

I believe that the biggest problem for any marketer right now. Is getting their backlinks indexed. It feels like even in the last few years Google has gotten slower and slower at indexing links.

I recommend anyone who wants to succeed in SEO, to research about the history of the search engines. Their original purposes and how they work. You need to come in to SEO with the understanding that it isn't Google who chooses where you will rank. It is YOU.

I know that sounds very bold, but I have a lot of years doing SEO. I have also read thousands of pages and hundreds of hours of videos on the topic. So trust me that is exactly how it works. When you first start out a campaign for ranking any keyword you need to figure out how much time and money you will have to invest to get position #1

I want you to forget about everything else except position #1 estimates say that about 40% of visitors to a search term click that position #1 webpage.

This means that if you are targeting a keyword with about 20,000 local monthly searches (I use exact match, other marketers may use phrase, just don't use broad!) Basically if that was the search volume of the keyword you are targeting then you will get about 8,000 visitors a month to your webpage for just that keyword.

Do you realize how profitable that can be? That's just one webpage. We do not rank websites. We rank pages and you can rank number one for every page on you website if you work hard enough. Will all of your websites be a success? NO, but if one succeeds, it could be enough to help you quit your slave away job.

Once you have created one successful website you can just keep expanding and rinse and repeat your original methods to succeed with the next hundred sites you put up. I have a lot of people ask me if Google Sniper type websites still work, my answer to them is yes, but you have to approach them differently.

If you need any help at all please let me know,

      Best regards,

      Dan

Ranks are close to around the same spots. Some have moved a bit as I started working on other sites and helping my mentor with promotion of some of her products. One of the biggest problems with keeping ranks at the top is that people get to a certain point and quit. That's great if you have thousands of links like some of my websites.

However lets say that you are ranked number #1 for a great keyword, decent traffic and you have about 200 backlinks showing up. (I use SEOspyglass and majesticseo to check. ) Just because you are ranking in position #1 doesn't mean you are safe. If you don't keep building backlinks. Someone who works twice as hard as you could steal your rank in a month.

Also I cannot stress enough how important it is to be organized in this business. You have to treat it like any other business. You need to make plans and you need to organize all your projects.

Here is the screenshot my mentor sent me that changed how I was doing everything and caused me to start to organize and plan out my business.

As you can see it is quite Organized and everything she needs is right there and ready whenever she needs it. No spending a bunch of time to try and find projects she has worked on.

I guess she forgot to name the WSO folder LOL

Over 40,000 global monthly searches with phrase,... but more importantly over 8000 exact monthly searches. I am that type of SEO-er I think that exact match is the best to target and if you get more than that great!

I also currently use my mentor's tool. She gave me it free! To check the profitability of a keyword before I waste my time trying to rank for one that won't make me much. It is estimated based on a 1% to make sure it is 99% accurate on the lowest amount a person would make ranking for position #1 in Google

I love this tool she created so much. It works great to help me find the most profitable keywords and products. As well as niches if I search for a bunch of keywords.

    Hi dsbusiness23,

How much money are making for that main keyword ranked number one first page? Do you outsource nowdays or are you still doing it manually?

How do you know when your site is out of google sandbox.

I have a site and wants to rank a few keywords like you? Can I PM you. I know you're busy nowdays.

That particular keyword pulls in a few hundred each month, but remember I am not ranked number #1 for that particular keyword and I do know why. I just simply haven't put enough work into it. But see that is why I don't just target one keyword.

Imagine if you rank 10 keywords that are each making about $300 a month and they were all on one website. You'd be making $3,000 dollars a month and that is actually do-able from one website!

Also, competing pages is not a good indicator of your real competition. In fact, the numbers you mentioned were very small in terms of competing pages. Sometimes I struggle to get a page ranked for a term with only 150,000 competing pages but can rank a page with millions.
As Aaron Egan mentioned in the quote above. That is not the best indicator of competition. In fact your only real competition is who is on page one. There a few other strategies to find out competition, but just in general worry about who is on page one.

Once again there are a few factors that determine competition at this level. I use both the Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer and my mentors "simple" tool to determine this.

Here is her Average PR checker tool. It just simply finds out the average PR once I plug in the numbers. The Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer does this for me automatically. But I still use both tools.

As you can see a simple tool. But she has outlined underneath, based solely on Average PR if you should waste your time trying to rank.

Jeffrey, You can find out several ways whether or not your website is in a Google sandbox, but you should understand first that I no longer preach about it. The reason for this is that I simply do not believe it anymore. I have read many great SEO books. What I now believe is simply that if you website disappears for a while, Google is reevaluating it, and not penalizing it.

However if there is a Google Sandbox, I will tell you this. Be consistent with backlinking and you will be fine. You can set up a free account with Attracta, which allows you to check if your website is blacklisted. I also recommend you set up an Attracta account for each website, because you can get some great free links and advice by doing so.

I am looking at your PM as we speak I will answer it as soon as I can.

Finally, I want to really encourage people by saying that I have found keywords before that are in fact laser targeted keywords. That have over 60,000 Local monthly searches, and over 200,000 global monthly searches. This being exact, that have hardly any competition.

With perhaps under 400 "REAL" competing webpages. So just understand those keywords are out there. You just need to do some digging and work hard to rank them, before your competition does!

In fact, I just about a week ago stumbled upon just such a keyword within 20 mins and immediately bought the domain and started working on it. Consistently creating links after creating a highly optimized page.

JUST DO NOT OVER OPTIMIZE, THERE IS SUCH A THING AND YOU WILL SIMPLY WASTE YOUR EFFORTS! My progress as of today is over 700 backlinks in less than a week and most of them are the main keyword. I use a particular percentage that my mentor and several SEO books have taught me.

It hasn't failed me yet! So as you can see being consistent really pays off. Where is my page for this great keyword? Not even in the first thousand results! Crazy right, but I'm not worried with all the backlinks I am creating and work I am doing on that webpage it will rank soon enough.

For anyone knew to SEO understand this is long term. Why else do you think SEO companies and services would be able to charge over $300 a month to rank keywords for people. These companies have the resources and time to work on your webpages consistently even if you don't have it.

If you don't want to work hard to rank keywords. Then the service I recommend is Matt LaClear's – SEO Service

I'll be honest I have not used it myself, but I have heard incredible things from other marketers who have. I wasn't able to find the older one that had a lot more pages, so if anyone knows it, and if it is still live maybe you could post it here. That way people can see how many rave reviews Matt has.

Just keep working, this is a business treat it like one. In time you will be able to rank for any keyword you want, and you will know exactly how to do it. For those who want a great course on this. My mentor is creating a free one and it should be up in the coming weeks. Any more question ask them here or PM me

Here is an update on that website that I said had over 700 backlinks. Note: I did not do any Srapebox blast to get these links. I did use a variety of backlinking software as mentioned in the previous post. I did create RSS feeds and submit them as well.

As I have mentioned many times you must be consistent. So you can bet I will be working hard to have 8000 backlinks total by the end of next week

    Hi dsbusiness23

Thank you so much for sharing such great information about how you got your site back in top of Google.

I have one site that was ranking on Google first page #6 for primary keyword with a search voulume above 14.000. Since October my site got hit the Google sandbox and drop to below position #500 and have been stuck in the serps for about 3 month now.

The last 2 month I have been building backlinks, made campaign and outsourced a lot of the work, and tried to get my site back into top of Google, but is goes very slow to get it back on track. For some reason Google will only rank my innerpost now for my primary keyword phrase and not my landing page as before.

The domain is 1 year old and all the content is unique. Onpage SEO and Social SEO is good.

Once again thanks for sharing your strategy I really appreciate that

    Cheers,

Hi there, the thing about Google is that they honestly hate landing pages. It is a lot harder to rank a landing page. There are a couple ways you can get around this. The first is to have all of your inner pages deeplinked. In fact if you don't already, this could make your serps jump overnight. It has for me in the past.

The other thing is slightly more sneaky, you can get a couple templates or code it yourself so that you have a landing page that scrolls down to a normal website. I have heard that this method works extremely well and tells Google that your website is not just another landing page.

What kind of landing page is it. If you would like me to have myself and my mentor check it out for you. You can pm me about it and perhaps we can get it ranking page #1 again no charge. Let me know!

      All the best,

My second biggest earner also waved goodbye in October. I did nothing to it as my Amazon sites were going ballistic but the end of January I made a little adjustment to a page and it shot back to #1.

I couldn't believe it was because of the little tweak so I did the same to another page and 2 days later it went from low 200's to #3. I did this one more time to convince myself that this is all it took and this 3rd page went from obscurity to #6 in 3 days.

I then made this change to every page on the site, 46 pages, and 38 of them are now top 10 (before October I had 28 in top 10) and my lowest ranking of all pages is 26.

Before I tell you what this tweak was, I want to let you know that this site was getting between 600-800 vistors a day beforehand so it had some authority. I do not know if this would work with a newer type of site but it worked for mine. Also, I am still getting the same amount of visitors give or take but my CTR and CPC is up.

Bottom line is it earns more now than it did pre-panda. Sure I missed out on 4 months of income but it is back now.

Sounds like an excellent little tweak. Would love to at it to what I do with my sites and see if they increase rank even more. I assume it wasn't backlinking but something you did on the site itself? Perhaps you had too high of keyword density of heard of that being a culprit for not ranking and as soon as it is acceptable in Google's eyes you shoot up.

Anyways, I am sure your tweak could help anyone out.

    Dan

What I'm interested to learn from you how the backlinks affect your site? Care to share?

It's over 9000!!! and climbing lol Backlinks do not give much weight to your web pages unless they are using your keywords as anchor text. Although I like to get a variation of nofollow, dofollow, domain name, my name etc.

It really is but as long as I keep getting a steady amount I know I will be okay. Google loves consistency!

As promised I am letting everyone know my mentor's new site is up! Even though my mentor has not put up a ton of articles on her site yet what she has written is pure gold.

Hopefully this thread and her information can help anyone succeed online. You can have a look at it here Danielle Mae Marketing

I also added it to my sig to get her some extra exposure. She has not started traffic generation to it yet. So you warriors are getting a first look just like I did
