Backlinking with Squidoo?

Looking for a little warrior help here. I've read a lot about using Squidoo lenses to build backlinks to your money site. I guess my question is this: If I have a main site that contains 1000 word product reviews of various blenders, how would you build a lens to link to that?

For example: I put a product review on my money site of GE Wonderful Blender. Then, to build a backlink to that post from Squidoo, what kind of content would I use?

Maybe it's tired and too late for me to try to figure this out but I just can't wrap my head around it. It seems to me that I would be basiically taking the same review and hacking it up and then linking back to my site.

Forgive the ignorance and please help me out of this dark hole I'm in :-)

  • 1k-word reviews? Are you actually making sales? For optimal conversions, the standard is between 400 to 450 words. There's only so much content you can write about products like the ones you are promoting. I say slit the content up and use part of it on Squidoo as a lead-in to your blog.

    Good luck,
    Joey
  • Thanks for the feedback, Joey. And no, actually I'm not selling a darn thing. I'm getting about 60-70 uniques a day and have seen zero, zilch, notta in sales.

So you think it could be too much content? Sounds reasonable to me.

Any other words of wisdom floating around out there?

  • I would put a back link to your site BUT just in case, I would put a backlink directly to the amazon item from your body with your affiliate code.

squidoo loves click outs and rewards them with increase in their rankings
  • Squidoo can be a great backlink especially when you build tier 2 links to it to give it some extra SEO juice.

    • Okay, call me stupid, but what's a tier 2 link? lol

Thanks guys for the comments and suggestions. I will get evaulating the site and hopefully making some changes that will convert to cash.
  • If all you want is a backlink to your website (which you can backlink to get an even STRONGER backlink), then who CARES what the article is about. Just offer some value to your readers to make a good, short article. You could list some recipes to make with the blender, for instance.

If you want TRAFFIC from your lens, you need to be more careful about the readers you target, however.

    • Ya know, squidoo is soooooooooooo friggin' easy, and so backlinkin' heaven, I
have no idea why people don't abuse it more.

You do have to follow the rules about content, # of modules, etc.

Squidoo, with their internal linking, actually can put traffic in your pocket
without you doing much. Their internal linking system is the best I have
      seen.

As stated, they reward you for active behavior, which is very easy. Unlike
blogs, where commenting is a crap shoot, if you comment on some good
lenses, you get numerous return visits to yours.

Squidoo can be a link mine with a bottomless shaft.

My favorite way of doing it is turning articles, any article, into a lens.

And put links to my sites using text and big picture.

  • Squidoo is the best web 2.0 out their, its free and google loves it, as it goes well with the panda update, i.e has value/content.

The traffic that you get to your lens can easily be converted in 2 important things...
    1) Affiliate Commission - By implementing the affiliate links that Squidoo lets you place on your lens, you can generate direct affiliate commission by linking to products on sites such as eBay and Amazon.com! This is an easy way to generate cash without having a web site!
    2) Traffic - You can funnel traffic from your Squidoo lens to your web site which may sell a product or service by linking within your lens and lens content.
These two factors give you an extra income stream as well as an extra stream of highly qualified traffic.

Unfortunately 95% of people do not use their squidoo lens correctly, I have made alot of money from mine. you have to utilize the html, content has to be just right, and you need to submit the lenses to the correct places.
Do this and your squidoo can be on page 1 of google.

  • Squidoo is a haven for backlinks. The only thing that I hate with Squidoo is the module requirements. Still, it's an ideal backlinking strategy that most people forgot to abuse.
