Google +1 & Effect On Conversion

This is kind of a 2-part question, but I haven't been able to find the answer to these questions.

1) Are +1's publicly displayed only after you hit a certain number? So for instance, when I'm logged into my Google account, I can see the number of people that +1'd Google, Apple, Ebay, Twitter, etc.

For the record, I'm not talking about the ability to see if people in your CONTACTS have +1'd you, I'm talking about just public +1's.

I've spot-checked the SERPS for certain sites and it seems like once you cross 1,000 +1's on a specific page, then it's publicly available in the SERPS. Again though, there aren't many examples of sites that have passed that so not sure.

2) Has anyone been successful in getting their public +1's displayed in the SERPS?

The reason I'm especially curious about this is because, in my niche, social proof appears to be a huge driver of conversion rates. So I'm assuming that if my site displayed the number of +1's in the SERPs, it would likewise lead to higher CTR's FROM the serps.

I put reviews on my site this summer and my conversion rate improved by about 30% overnight. And they were REALLY good to begin with.

Any thoughts?

I do know that if someone in your google plus list hits a +1 button, they'll show up in the serps next to the link they +1'd. And it puts the link in the profile of their plus account. That does help to stretch your current traffic a bit.

  • When u +1 the link this is visible for poeple who have you in their circles, so this link will be on first results just for that people.
I know the site that doesn't have high PR and any backlinks and was just +1'd and the author has verified this site and the site competed another one with strong backlinks and high PR
