  • Thats unlucky, I've never heard of this happening. But then again I never backlink my website until it gets indexed

    • Doesn't sound like something that would happen.

Is it actually deindexed, or do you not know what you're talking about?

search google, site:yourdomain.com and see if any results come up.

  • If it is a new site, it may appear and fall out before sticking. I've had quite a few new sites where the pages would index first before the actual root domain. Once I would check it and it would be there, then the next minute it was gone.

Give it about a good week to settle in and double check again.
  • If it's deindexed, it ain't comin' back.
  • I would think its a huge red flag if google finds a site and it already has backlinks
how did the sites linking to it know the site was there yet? if it was not indexed yet ? anywhere?

    might be the reason
    live and learn
put it on a new domain and move on
  • Probably not an issue at all. You could be getting results from different datacenters. If the site had been around for a few weeks or months and then got deindexed, you'd have an issue. Give it a few days.
  • outwest: If there are no links at all, how would Google find the site in the first place to index it? I'd get it if there were a ton of links out there -- that would look really suspicious. That's why I only did a few.

JamesGw: thanks -- my thinking was that the site is so new that it hasn't been around long enough to do anything itself to cause a deindexing, so your note makes sense to me.
  • This is completely normal. This has happened to me a number of times before. It 'may' disappear for 2-4 days but will then come back. Just remember to build links gradually.
  • I'd say give it a week or so, as long as u did a site:domain.com and you see results it should be no problem. I got my sub post pages indexed before the root domain.
  • Nothing out of the ordinary here, it could be that the datacenter that you checked on hadn't been updated yet to the latest index. This is typical since Google deals with so much information.

Keep in mind that if this happened on a website thats years old and had been indexed then you'd probably have a problem. A new site? Not so much and most likely a datacenter that hasn't been updated yet.
  • Thanks again, everyone. Indexed again this morning. I guess it was just a new site blip.

    • Figured. Glad everything's good.

      Good luck!
  • I had a similar problem with one of my sites, it was there one day and gone the next, but for me it turns out it was only a very slow internet line that caused the problem, its back again.

Does this happen normally? Launched a new site over the weekend, and set up a few backlinks to get the site indexed - not many, about 3 so far. Checked yesterday evening and the site had been indexed. Yay. Couldn't find it ranking anywhere, but no big deal.
