Best Article Directory For Ranking: After The Big EZA

Maybe it's just me but there seems to be a fight for second in the Article Directory game.

Ezine Articles still seems to be the 300 pound Gorilla.

But what article directory do you find is the next best when it comes to getting your article ranked with Google? What's your personal experience lately?

It depends on the article itself a lot more than the directory it's on.

Write a high quality unique article with loads of quality info and possibly an image and it won't really matter what directory it is on. - especially if you run an seo campaign on it too.

I'm not much into Bum Marketing, but GoArticles has been pretty good for me.

I've found it much more beneficial to add articles to directories with the intention to get them distributed in other sites and ezines. Rather than as a quick way to create a page to rank in Google, or a way to generate a single pr 0 backlink.

Therefore ezine has been the most beneficial to me, followed by article base.

When I check my logs I see traffic from ezinearticles, articlesbase, ideamarketers and some of the other top directories. Ezinearticles ranks 191 in US according to Alexa so still gets lots of traffic. Articlesbase.com ranks 780 globally so these sites do have lots of visitors.

Interesting point, but now that you mentioned getting ariticles distributed to other sites. My test have IdeaMarketers.com far ahead of even Ezine articles, almost 3 to one. I don't know why but my numbers don't lie.

That's a good intention, but how can you go about doing that? How can you make them get distributed to other websites? A lot of my articles on ezinearticles I have found on other people's websites, but they always remove my resource box links or bio.

Article marketing is dead... You do it, and you shoot yourself in the foot with a loaded Panda shotgun. You're essentially devaluing the content your putting online. Stay away from it.

How exactly are you "devaluing the content your putting online" by submitting quality content to article directories? That makes no sense.

I think you're more referring to mass submitting unoriginal, non-unique content to article directories for the purpose of links. That seems to be dead, but I don't believe article marketing in general is.

I appreciate your opinion, but please explain further how one shoots themselves in the foot if it achieves the appointed goals.

The key in my opinion is submiting to the few highly respected directories and publications - and staying away from the "I'll take anyone's article type directories."

Have you had bad experiences where this was the case? And what were you looking to get from your article marketing ... your number one primary goal. Sales, page rank, traffic, other? Just curious. Thanks.

I focus on ranking my own articles on the websites I own, rather than ranking articles in Google. That's a good way to just spin your wheels.

A few years back, I was one of those guys who would work on getting articles ranked, but then quickly realized all of that work I was doing was ultimately benefiting EZA in the long run.

With that said, I still do use article directories, but I ONLY submit my articles after they have been indexed on my website(s). From there, I distribute them for a little extra traffic kick to the usual suspects - EZA, GoArticles, ArticlesBase, ArticleAlley, IdeaMarketers, etc.

Other than that, I don't submit "exclusive" content to them. It always goes on my site first.

That's an excellent point, article ranking should be part of a whole marketing plan not the only thing ... or even the first. Of course if you have a site or blog your articles should see them first, good reminder.

      • Buzzle has long been one of my fav's in terms of relatively quick publishing and strong backlinks. And they seem to do a very good job at attracting and publishing mostly strong content, which would lead me to think they'll only improve in light of Panda.

I think Buzzle no longer allows links which makes it pretty much useless.

you seem to know a lot about panda. lol.. are you a google employee?? anyway, it is not dead, it all depends on how you do it. A couple of high quality directory sites with unique content for each will surely benefit your site. however, using automated softwares that usually spams will surely affect your site.

I don't see any changes in google even with the panda when it comes to ranking my sites. In fact, I'm getting more improvement since the update.

Suite101 is very good, only it's pretty difficult to get your articles there to stay. Suite101 will publish your articles instantly, but they are reviewed later. In other words, they can go over your article at any time and find something they think is wrong with it.

I use Ezinearticles mainly, and a little bit of Ideamarketers.
