I have read some info about nofollow links, but still didn't get a straight answer. Are my links completely useless SEO wise?
I'm posting comments and in the website section entering my link. But the link gets a nofollow property, so is it absolutely useless SEO wise?

Actually, both DoFollow and NoFollow links are still important. It is just that almost every newbie or beginning SEOs think that only DoFollow links are more important.

But the truth is that both is considered by Google in ranking and having your site as either an authority or not.

    Hi,

Nofollow links are also very important as they make the link building process look natural. Real people can follow nofollow links and that is what which is more important. If you are getting even nofollow links from the relevant & authority website then you can get quality traffic.
The most important thing is the quality & relevance of the backlinks.

Not true. Nofollow is still helping on serp
The only different from dofollow is that nofollow doesn't pass the pr juice and not being indexed

They still count as links, don't worry too much about whether the links are no-follow. A good mix of both is ideal.

Both are considered by Google in ranking and having your site as either an authority or not.

But ... Don't waste your $$$ on the wrong kind of backlinks - They won't work.

Since the Google "Panda" update a lot has changed.

Google has moved the playing field and simple text links are almost counter productive, Pyramid linkbuilding is no longer worth the effort but Contextual Links will get you an almost immediate SERPS improvement.

Tens of thousands of both can be done in 24hrs using Scrapebox, and because of that Google is now giving simple text links less weight in SERPS.

If you watch the latest video by Matt Cutts, Google's own guru, you will learn that contextual backlinks now have the most value.

Contextual backlinks are links placed inside an article or blog post that are in the context of their surrounding text, so they look natural.

For example an article on firefighting might have links to a firestation URL. These are quite time consuming to create and invariably need an image to get maximum Google juice.

For anyone planning to create backlinks I recommend you to take 3 minutes to watch the Matt Cutts video on Auto SEO Systemâ„¢ Search Engine Optimization Software

If you recognise the change he speaks about. then afterwards use their FREE software to create some contextual articles embedded with your own URL.

so you're saying that article directories is a very good way now?
however, you can't sumbit the same article to multiple directories, right?

I think the only difference is their, yes their is no option to pass link juice from nofollow back link. Other than that both are essential for ranking that means in SEO

Matt Cutts has a video on his youtube channel saying that nofollow links don't help SERP rankings at all.

Don't know if it's true, but I still like to include some in my link building though

Not at all. Nofollow links actually have a stronger correlation with rankings than dofollow links, although this doesn't necessarily - and really almost certainly - imply causation. There's still a link there for whatever reason. Maybe Google uses nofollow links to determine spam thresholds and whatnot. It's important to keep a diverse link portfolio and I recommend doing it.

Some people might disagree with me.

Nofollow links don't pass the link juice and reputation of that site but they are very important to provide you relevant visitors to your site.

I always make sure to nofollow my outbound links that do not warrant any link juice being passed on. Not sure if they work or not...
