one URL, multiple keywords

One of my clients has a new website for his business. The problem is that it only has two URLs (home page, and FAQ). My question to whoever knows this answer is, can i market one URL under several keywords? Obviously I know it needs to pertain to the Meta Title and description, but I have just never done multiple keywords for one URL. Would Google not like this? Thanks for the help!

The effect is bound to be weaker if you are mixing multiple keywords, I hope you end up titles and text that's still human readable.

The other place you can mix up the keywords is in back-link anchor text.

yes anchor text is what referring to. Im just wondering if google or the other search engines are going to penalize me or find it odd that im trying to rank one url for several keywords.

They won't penalize you, they just won't know for what keyword to rank your website for.. So the strategy you're using is not very good.. Focus on 2 to 3 very similar keywords and create backlinks using those keywords...

It's going to be a lot harder to accomplish. The more keywords you try to rank a single page for, the harder it gets. Plus, you need to make sure your content i s still readable and you're not simply stuffing a bunch of different keywords.

The most effective thing to do is vary your anchor text for your keywords in your backlinks.

Yes you can. But at least focus on one main keyword for your page. Then vary your main keyword into at least five related keywords and use it as your minor keywords. As long as your contents don't look spam, as well as your on=page optimization, it will not be definitely hurt by Google.
