Does the ip matter?

I made some websites and they have a bad reputation in Google because of their spammy links (thousands of profile links, etc). Now I'm thinking of making a new website which will be more serious but is it ok to make it on the same host?
The website will have the same ip as the spammy ones and I'm afraid Google might penalize it although it's not the same domain name!

  • I would be very hesitant to build any sites on an ip which has previous sent the wrong signals to Google in the past. It's very inexpensive to get a dedicated ip or to even choose a new web host. I would go for the latter if I were in your position.
  • What will the Google do with other domains already having good repute and page ranks, hosted on that host? Will the all other domains be also penalized by Google? I think its not so as you are thinking. If you register a new domain on the same host, It will have its own repute and identity with Google.
    Hope you got my point.

  • I recommend you to change the host or ask the hosting service to provide you a different IP for your new website. This issue might be complicated but for the sake of precaution I recommend not to host your new site on the same ip.

  • I would like to recommend that you should go for dedicated ip not for shared ip...as Google like static and dedicated ip.
