I am trying to learn SEO the right way so I bought 2 books:
#1. SEO Made Simple
#2. The McGraw-Hill 36-Hour Course: Online Marketing

Has anyone else read these? They seem to be ok with some pretty good info, but the SEO Made Simple book seems to be somewhat dated.

I am looking for an SEO Book that is either new with up to date SEO tactics that will actually work in today's version of Google, or a book that has been around for a while and is still relevant. A book that you have actually read and applied the tips and seen results? Any suggestions?

    Hi xTrav,

Those books are great! Really, for now. In my perception, is not for long..
Personally, I don't rely on books when it comes to SEO. For me, things are getting more complicated when you stick with the written facts that not last for long.. Hope that make sense.

What I can recommend is to have your own twitter account and follow SEO Gurus who keep on twitting their updates almost every hour.

Here are few of the must have followed people in SEO:

    sengineland
    vanessafox
    smx
    mattcutts
    dannysullivan
    seosmarty
    randfish
    seomoz
    wmguild
    kasierthesage

There, those guys will give you the most updated and most effective techniques you can have on your seo campaigns or personal studies.

I recommend starting out with SEO in Practice and Google Search Engine Starters guide.

But I think the best learning source is your experience so start testing theory on some site because SEO is all about experiments.
