New Kid on the block - just joined as a member. So far, my SEO efforts haven't brought much results.

May I ask if I can submit a single article to various article submission directories, say about 7 to 8 directories? Will I get penalized by google for duplicated content?

No, dupe content is only penalized in the search engine RESULTS or on your own website. Not for backlinking purposes such as submitting to directories.

Besides what you're doing isn't dupe content, it's content syndication which is A-OK.

In Google eye you will be a spammer, because, the backlinks you are retrieving from the same content from different article sites. One other option you may try, submit your article in any one article directory. And get its published link. Now post this link as source on other article directories while posting the same article content.

That is one of the most misinformed responses I have ever seen. I guess the Associated Press must be the biggest spammer in the world in Google's eyes. They submit their content all over the place.

Nope, you won't be penalized, it's just syndication.

The consensus is that it doesn't get penalized. I am relieved.
Last question, is it okay if the article is not spinned?

      "Okay"? It's better.

If you don't mind reading a 4-page thread (which - like many article marketers here - I strongly recommend because although it isn't perfect, it contains far less misinformation and far fewer inaccuracies and untruthful claims than other threads here on the same subject), all you can want to know about spinning is in this one.
