Mastering adwords?

There is so much info on this board and so many knowledgable people. That it's hard to know where to start.
Can anyone point me to a person/thread/wso for mastering adwords and campaigns? This isn't so much about headlines and copy (although thats important) but mastering the tool and techniques with a defined process.
I can already generate lists of keywords and point them to an ad, but how do you really drill down to determine which keywords are producing. Do various ad testing etc.
Is there a proven good tutorial on the subject?
