Please advise - How To Backlink MMOL sites

I would really appreciate some guidance when is comes to backlinking.
How should I proceed when wanting to set up backlinks to a make money online site.

These are sites that I established when I first started in IM and they still do ok but I could be ranking better with some focus on backlinking.
My knowledge about how to set up a linking strategy or backlinking seemingly sucks, I've recently began the following:

Blog Commenting
Social bookmarking
Article writing

am I on the right track or what else should I be doing?

    There's a few others you could look at like guest posting, forum backlinks, directories etc

      sorry for the delay, yes I am building these manually. A while back I ended up buying auto traffic nirvana and it ruined one of my sites with garbage links so I've been gun shy with automation.
