Ok we all know a Anchor Link on a high PR homepage is worth golf. Ok, BUT what about a banner link on a high PR homepage? is it the same weight carried?

It could be a 125x125 or a 468x60 if that banner is linked back to our homepage or inner page will that banner ad give us juice as well?

  • In my opinion, a contextual link is better for SEO purposes, whereas a banner link is more for direct traffic purposes.

So, I'd go for the contextual link.

With a banner, make sure you optimize it for SEO w/ proper alt/title tags.

    • I know which is better Im just asking to see if they carry the same weight.

IE: you place my link with the anchor "Dog Walking" on you PR3 page.

is that the same PR weight flowing back to me as if you place a 125x125 banner ad on your site that goes to my website?

  • with a banner link we can't specify the anchor text
where as with a contextual link we can
    many people prefer the later
  • Ok yea SEo weight, I was thinking of ordering a few banners for one of my Amazon stores to post on like minded sites and wondered if it was worth it AND if Google would see that banner ad on say a PR3 page and send me the "juice" to my site as far as ranking goes like if it was a text link.
  • Yea, I'd take the contextual link with some keyword anchor text.
