Hi!

I am a newbie in link building.
The website I opened has PR.
I just want to know if I post on forum/comment page but it does not contain a PR, will it be a valid post to create link I am promoting?

Whether it has a pr or not, it is valid unless it is dofollow... see link below for some dofollow forums.
  • Hi lovey,

It depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are trying to build traffic, then ignore PR and just focus on links from relevant sites that have traffic. Make sure your anchor text is relevant and deep link where appropriate.

If you don't want traffic, and just want some green line, then ignore sites that have traffic and go for sites that have high PR and don't deep link, just link to the one page that you are trying to get that green line to grow on. Oh, and anchor text doesn't matter just make sure it's not nofollow for green line optimization.

Remember PR doesn't bring traffic, just green line.
  • Forum links are basically OK - but the real secret is to post in a thread that has some of your anchor text or 'cached' keywords in its url heading.

This one is /46357-link-building.html - now if your site was involved in link building -you get the idea. SEO/SEM is all about 'grabbing opportunities' that present themselves - so I use Google Alerts based on my keywords and if a forum thread came up on 'Historical Fiction' - I dive in and post.

I did it just now by using my anchor text in the '' hehe

  • one point i would make is ensure you use anchor text iin as many links as you can, and try to get links from related websites, this helps with seo.
  • high PR link will give your website better ranking in search engine, which eventually give you more traffic.
It is fine to link from a forum with no PR, it does contribute to a certain extend. Lovey, you may put your link at the sig of your post.

    • Steven Hi and greetings - the myth about the pr of a linked site is one that goes around and around.

The bots are looking for related topic/anchortext links - they have no means of seeing the internal pagerank.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks

  • PR can increase and decrease, so don't mind about it, concentrate on building backlinks to your site and if you're also concern about it, build the links on high traffic and relevant sites.
Even links from low traffic sites worth something.
  • Its needless to say that if you are looking for link building then make sure that quality of links matter more than quantity. Posting in forums infact good forums really make sense like warriorforums. But keep on posting without sense would get your account deleted from such forums.

As a highly ranked forums will always give you a quality link and provide you visitors. Commenting in blogs is also a good idea as there as well you need to comment something sensible and avoid comments like "i like the way you wrote", "good thing to know about" etc.........these all are good for nothing....so post and comment something which let others make learn some new thing and please avoid commenting fake things
  • As solidsnake said first, whether the forum/blog your posting at is with or without PR, its still fine as long as its dofollow.
  • I agree, PR is a nice thing to pay attention to, but it should not be your sole focus. Posting in forums with the appropriate anchor text is a great way to get backlinks. Especially if the forum is in your sites niche and the thread has your targeted keywords. That is why when you do the obligatory "intro" you should not just say, hello, but say something with your site's keywords in the thread title.

  • Nice discussion going on. I do like to share my views regarding the same. lovey, link building and PR are interlinked. If you build fare amount of back link to your site, it would definitely give you good amount of traffic and hence there is every chance to have a Nice PR.

Consistency in link building is much important aspect to be taken care of.
  • Ya, great points here. Get links that get clicks. If your link has a page rank, more power to ya!
  • In order to get quality in-link consider the do follow attribute,
  • Good points, many links from Blog comments, Wikipedia and other websites have a "nofollow" attribute.
  • Yes agreed do follow is essential, then concentrate on the relavency of the site to your own.

  • yes,thanks for this information

    • What plugin do you use? if you're using searchstatus, you can right click on the menu and check the "highlight nofollow links",
with this option checked, searchstatus highlights the nofollow links on your current page with pink color.

If you're talking in the term of online business you'd refer PR as in page rank or press release.
In this case it's page rank.
    • It refers specifically to Google Page Rank. You can google "Page Rank"
and find googles definition and many tools. Id post a link but I cant. Sorry.

  • I'm sure I understand the question, but leaving comments on relevant blogs/forums is great for generating traffic and sorting building a name for yourself.

If you're looking to build your PR then you need to look for dofollow blogs and forums.

I've used Welcome to BuyDoFollowComments.com: Your Source for Quality Backlinks to comment on relevant dofollow blogs for $1 per post. They've been good to me, and helped me get some PR to my site.
