Should i use "|" between keywords or " - " in the page titles

Will this effect anything

Search engines treat those characters as spaces, so no it doesn't effect anything.

I always use "-"s between words. Seems to work well

  I would rather use nothing between words and it proves pretty well that this might be a good choice. - But not article titles, where I use comma instead.

There is no need to use the - or |. They have no effect on search engine rankings.

  I read in this seo article ones that using - or | is allowed. But I prefer using - sign because it looks much better.
