Will google be using +1 as part of their algorithm? I do realize that the Google+1 effect is doing something in the SEO effect but can not really see any difference yet.

yes they have announced it officially . google 1 plus can help in your ranking.

One of my post got 10 rating and i get first place within 10 days for that keyword .

So if you care about search engine trafficking then please encourage your user to rate through 1 plus.

Google +1 does nothing for ranking.

People are just mixing up friends with business.

      Fake friends at that.

If it does not already, I speculate that it will have some effect and be taken into consideration more as the google agorithm evolves.

I think that they are smart and might come up with ways of detecting some methods of using it to cheat the system though.

I would use it as it was meant for and hope for some traffic from people telling their friends about it and hope that it can help you in the SERPS eventually!

Yea... When Google +1 was launched, I was clearly mentioned that it it is going to impact your website rankings.

Moreover, it is a signal of popularity of your web page among your audience. And Google consider every signal while assigning ranking to a webpage.

Of course +1 effects your rankings. Its been proven by SEOMoz and Google has spoken out that it effects rankings.

Currently it has only a small effect on your rankings but as we move forward it will increase in value since there is so much user data behind each plus +1.

Every major report on SEO clearly states that Social Media is the biggest growing part of your search rankings and +1 certainly falls into that category.

      Hi VladWorks,

I must have missed that. Can you please point out exactly where you heard this information. I did a quick search on SEOMoz and Google and found nothing that supports your assertion that +1 effects your rankings.

I agree that Social Media is a big factor, just nothing about the +1 button having any effect on rankings. That claim is totally new to me and contrary to everything I have read about it from Google.

Then I guess we know how much SEOMOZ should be believed...if they ever
      could be taken 100% seriously...

+1 does not affect your rankings. Again, people are mixing $#!t up.

Most people search when they're not logged in to gmail or any other google services. Some even want personalization out of the box when they get results after query. So how could +1 affect your rankings when only logged people (to google services) can only see them? It might get your site traffic though.

      Hi milapetersburg,

Actually, according to Google, personalization is on when you are not logged in.

Thanks for pointing that out, but I couldn't remember saying personalization only takes effect when you are logged in, rather most people are searching through google when they're logged out. I do know about this, especially when you have the web history turned on and not incorporating pws=0 in the query url, even if you're logged out, your search can still be influenced.

btw, do you know any updates regarding +1 showing up for logged out users?

  • I think publicly stating that it will be used is part of a bigger marketing plan to push the brand via the +1 symbol. Google likes to say they are going to do something but never officially verify it's being done.

Boy I had better do that because Google says so... right?

And for everything that can help, some part of it can also hurt. Imagine a scenario where you have +1 and nobody uses it, will they track that as well.

Should one jump on everything that Google proclaims because it is Google... Just something else to think about.

But I heard so & so say...

I don't think it does, but even If +1 was ever included in SERP ranking, so what.

That would be what, like 0.078% of the ranking algorithm?

I got better things to do than stress over, will my traffic click my sites/page +1 button.

Google have lots of ranking factors in their algorithm, and I think one of them is (or at least will be) Google +1. I think social "votes" like +1 and Facebook's 'Like' will become increasingly important in Google's algorithm, along with other activity on social media.

Social "signs" of appreciation of a website may to a certain extent replace backlinks for the search engines to determine which sites to rank higher.

I'm not sure that Google will ever go that route, I think more likely they will use your +1s to rate your personal profile for trust and authority. Your +1s get attached to your Google profile and they can use your +1s to determine what you personally like and serve search results and ads that are more relevant to you personally. Basically it is just an extension of personalized search.

If I recall correctly there was talk when it was first launched that it also affects the results that your friends search for. For example if you had a heap of friends who loved surfing then their interaction with the +1 button w(c)ould affect the results your mates see when they also go looking for surfing news. No idea if that is implemented or not. That takes it from personal to peer based.

          Hi Fraggler,

That is true to some degree, but not quite to the degree I would call peer based. It is more personal based with a peer-to-peer enhancement.

From what I have seen there is currently no influence on peer rankings, just visible clues when search results include +1s from personally selected peers.

Google +1 is all about branding, this doesn't mean that if you have the higher +1 gets the higher rankings you will be positioned. I have read many of your speculations and I'm getting confused of what is the real fact about these. Maybe I need to search it little more to prove how +1 affects ranking.

What i think that +1 will not affect the algorithm but it can affect the serp rank. As the more +1 for the page means in google eye , that the page hold some meaningful information which can be useful for people. So google will find the page information more and if find helpful then google will try to show it in top results. So this way the site holding the page will get the top position in search result.
But we can assume spark feature of google plus as the play role in algorithm due to showing the all unique content from the web.

Google Plus is too young compared with other social networking platforms. So it’s too early to make any conclusions and guesswork. Still it is hard to believe that Google+ and its plus one button will not have a sizable effect on both ranking and indexation of URLs in search delivery. Whatever the algorithmic effect it may have in the nearest future, at present moment it’s probably too soon to predict the outcomes.

Google Plus One does not validate unless you use a cheat workaround which makes the whole point stupid anyway as It isnt picked up if you hide it from the validation so you lose either way. Best removed and stick with validation

Google plus will have an affect on rankings. I read in an article that Google will start slowly, but once their are established it will have an measurable effect.
