Comment LUV Plugin SEO Benefits

I'm testing Comment LUV and considering the Premium Version as well after testing.

I have set up Comment LUV on a few blogs and disabled registration to make it as easy as possible to gather comments. It has always been my opinion that people who leave intelligent comments related to content is a GOOD thing and those people should be rewarded, thus the Comment LUV option where people can not only leave their keywords and links to their sites, but also an option to DOFOLLOW which I have activated on all these blogs.

I've always been annoyed by bots and DUMB PEOPLE who leave DUMB COMMENTS linke "Nice blog I bookmarked"... etc. I know I'll still be deleting 90% of comments, but that's the way it is I suppose.

Now more on point:

For those who are using the Premium Version of Comment Luv - are you seeing real world results reflected in your Log Files that traffic is coming from Blog Commenting and or distribution of comment links as a result of using the PREMIUM vs FREE version?

It's my opinion based on recent events at Google that one way to appear much less spammy (The word SPAM is used out of context... but that's common now too) is to have plenty of relevant on target comments.

I could not see a feature to open Comment Luv links in a new window? Is this in the premium version?

Opinion?

Disclaimer: I have NO Affiliation with Comment LUV, and I understand the Premium Version is pretty new so a lot of people may not be on board yet.

I have been using Comment Luv on a couple of my blogs. I really like the plugin and appreciate when other blogs use it. It is a nice community building tool.

On the down side I am getting a LOT of comment spam that is not being filtered out by my spam plugin. I'm using the free version of Comment Luv and not the premium. I don't know if using the premium would help this or not.

  • I've watched the promo for the premium and it's interesting what it attempts to do with placing more links on other sites.

I fully expect to get bombarded with spam comments, I always do everytime I open comments up without registration.

My complaint with Spam comment filters is they often block legitimate comments simply because of a particular phrase used. The flip side is I don't always have time to weed everything out. I liked the older version of comment deletion where one click did the job and you didn't have to dump everything to the trash then empty the trash.

      Maybe you can enlighten me.

How is giving a bunch of outbound backlinks to other websites a good thing for SEO?

      You are just bleeding pagerank.

On top of that, you are opening yourself up to more spammers to moderate. Spammers specifically seek out websites with Comment LUV on them.

  • I'm not going to post the link to the Comment Luv premium page here... but if you search it you will find it. skip the actual page find the blog.

If you want to be enlightened (I am not an affilaite, I have no relationship with the author) you can see what it does.

For starters you can force those who want a do follow to take a specific action. Just one of the things.

And for those who think that the only way to drive traffic is to lock up your blog and only link out with no follow... well then the world is a tiny little place.

The Net is about Sharing and everyone who comes to your site won't be familiar with IM.

Live in a bubble or look outside it.

Now back on point. Still looking for those who are using this plugin free or otherwise for their experiences.

I don't like how it blocks people from being able to use specific phrases as well. Many times the spammers still seem to be able to get through, but legit posts get blocked. They shouldn't punish people making legit posts because others like to spam the heck out of blogs without posting anything meaningful or that makes sense.
