Did Google do Some Sort of Update?

I went to my webmaster tools today and previously, it was showing links from 293 sites (or something). Today, it's showing links from about 1000 sites.

Did something change to account for them suddenly noticing a ton of new links? I don't know yet that it has changed my rankings, but it's a huge change in how many sites are being picked up.

  • google does update much more frequently recently. it adjust the search result during the day too.
  • I need the answer too, I went from 300+ links to 900+ links on a particular website.. Someone trying to sandbox me?

    • It is not normal that google sandbox a website if receiving "lot" of backlinks. If this is true, anyone can do that for his competitors..
So many many SEO professionals don't believe in that...

      Phillipe...
  • Well what ever might be happening, we websites keywords are from no where to page one, in 7 days time.... The client of the website cant believe the results neither can i, whats going on....

    Google SERPs update 24/7/365.
  • I think Google is rolling out a big blast update for us. First, PR gone, now backlinks increases, and then rankings went up page one from nowhere. There could be the next big thing right behind Google's wall, but not quite sure of that, and it's scary to think about.
  • Google updates constantly. As many as 400 times a year. You only hear about the Major Updates or when one really shakes things up.
  • I wouldn't mind seeing the answer you found either.
