I'm trying to decide which of these tools is best for finding potential high quality and relevant backlinks. It also needs to be able to look at my top competitors sites and pick the top 100 backlinks pointing to them with the highest PR and authority.

Scrapebox is the best without a doubt for finding relevant high PR pages to comment on.

Market Samurai should not even be mentioned as an internet marketing tool anymore. It is a giant piece of ****.

To me, it is a lot like Coors Light Beer. It is still really popular, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why.

Scrapebox and SpyGlass are probably the two most valuable internet tools I have ever used.

SpyGlass is good for analyzing the backlinks of your competitors. Scrapebox can do that to some degree as well, but SpyGlass is better at it and pulls backlinks from more sources. There is a rumor that they are going to be adding integration with another big database soon as well.

Scrapebox has a ton of uses. Finding good quality high PR sites for blog commenting is one of them.

      I highly recommend both.

Thanks for the great feedback. I have a friend that swears by market samurai for keyword research and I have tried the trial version. My question is:

In google keyword tool you can have 10 different phrases that show the exact same search volume("seo optimization", "seo engine" - both keywords have exactly 245,000 searches a month= highly unlikely).

market samurai breaks it down into exact number of searches a month for specific keywords. Is there an equal or better tool out there for doing this? IMO google keyword tool is useless unless I'm missing something that would allow me to pull more exact numbers.

Make sure that you setting both settings to exact searches.

In addition, Market Samurai gets its data from Google so no, it's not "more accurate". Google just has thousands and thousands of servers so the data may vary slightly depending on which server you get your information from.

In the Google Keyword Tool, on the left hand side, turn the broad search off and change it to exact search.

The only difference you may see in MS is that it can display the numbers in daily searches instead of monthly. That is just a matter of dividing by 30 though. Not a big deal.

I totally missed the "Exact" option in GKT. Thanks for the help!

So basicaly I can use GKT for keyword research, then SEOSpyglass for researching competition and snooping their backlinks. Then use scrapebox to find relevant blogs that I can post manually and get links from right? Does scrapebox also find forums, article sites, and directories that I can use for backlinks too?

That is how I would recommend using them in conjunction.

Yes, with Scrapebox you can find all those things. It will find anything that you can enter a footprint for.
