You could be more precise in your Google search

1) enter your query, something like this:
your niche "10.. comments"

Note there should be NO SPACE between 10 and dots. This will show pages containing phrases like "12 comments", "20 comments", etc, whatever is more than 10 comments, will be found. Wordpress by default shows comment count in that format. However, there may be some blogging CMS that show comments in different format, like comments (18), and of course that one will not be found. The format provided here is for Wordpress blogs.

2) then you could add Google's special tools - click on "More Search Tools" link on the left side from search results, and pick "Past Week" or "Past 24 hours" - whatever is more appropriate in your situation. This will only leave pages with desired number of commments updated within past XX days and related to your niche

3) note that since you have used "NN comments" kw, there is no need to use Google's special tools to select "Blogs" - that probably will not make much difference b/c you already using "NN comments" pattern.

The trick with using numeric ranges inside google queries is a really powerful trick worth learning. Combined with some other Google search operators, it could do wonders. For example, here is how to find Warrior Forum profiles who have post count > 5,000. So here is WF Hall of Fame - just copy and paste below string to google search box

You could apply this to find powerful linked in profiles, facebook pages, etc etc. Here is how to find Linked In profiles that have > 5000 connections:

Those are great tricks, and you can use G querys like that to find comments on WP blogs, in addition to .edu sites, .gov sites and all manner of worthwhile places to get seen, heard, and linked. There have even been WSO that were nothing more than explaining how to do this.

By the way, there are only 5 Warriors that come up in that search:
Kay King, Alexa Smith, Steven Waggenheim, Paul Meyers, and Willie Crawford.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions. This seems like a good thread. i checked out Robotic Surfing and their tools are not expensive. They have a semi auto tool and an auto tool appears to be coming out.

Do they handle proxies or do you have to pay to set up proxies? I am not sure how to deal with proxies??? Any help is appreciated.

There is also a way to phrase your search string so that you can eliminate "nofollow" blogs from your results- but I can't find the phrase right now.

I recommend that you don't use it.

For me, it isn't relevant whether the blogs on which I comment have no-follow links, because I benefit a lot from those anyway. Having done the difficult and time-consuming part of identifying blogs relevant to my niches on which I can post with a link, I'm certainly not going to "not bother" just because the links might be no-follow. I have the Firefox one-click toy to tell at a glance, but I don't even look, to be honest. I want those backlinks, too. Many search engines ignore "no-follow" anyway. Many people believe that Google doesn't discount "no-follow" as much as it sometimes claims: it's ambiguous at best. If you've already decided that no-follow links are no use to you, it may not interest you much, but actually there are many interesting threads here explaining/discussing do-follow/no-follow links, if you're open to having a little re-think about them. This one might start you off, and then there's more here, here, here, here, here, and so on.

While commenting on blogs does indeed give you backlinks, I think the point was that if you get involved in the discussion on other blogs, you are more likely to get engaged readers come to your blog if you post similar content.

The same thing goes with Twitter and other Social media where you can engage people in conversations, and some will naturally migrate to your blog out of curiosity if you can post engaging comments.

Yes, I would not use these auto comment posters. If you want to keep your domain from getting black listed, you need to make real comments, not generic spam comments. That means you need to read the blog and post an intelligent comment. The only way to accomplish this is by using a semi automatic blog commenting tool or post manually.

This information is much appreciated, along with the related comments. It's important that you build your blog backlink slowly. If you are posting manually or semi automatically, that's not going to be an issue because you can only phyically post so much. The fully automatic blog commenters like scrapebox you have to be careful. You don't want to alert google that you are spamming the blogs. Once you're domain is black listed, you're done.

Question. What are you recommending to post on these sites? I hope you aren't talking about do-follow blog comments. That's the scummiest thing any affiliate marketers can do. I agree with Brucemoore. I don't want my blog black listed.

Some further strings to search for to gain more blog comments are:

"post a comment"
"powered by wordpress"
"powered by joomla"

Also search the following to find blogs to comment without registering:

-"you must be logged in"
-"you must register"

I find it also helps to add this to the end of your string:

name email url
or: name email website

This increases your chances of getting blogs which allow anyone to comment on.

If you like you can download the SEOQuake plugin and search your results by highest PR too.

Thank you everyone for your interest in this topic.

I have started to narrow down searches. So to start with I might look at the general niche, such as "internet marketing".

Then, I start to look at recent posts I have made in my blog, that I can post an interesting link on the blog with.

So I would search for: "upsell",
"Advertising copy"
"sales page"
"affiliate marketing" etc with today`s date.

Some good tips by Dadamson, that can save you a lot of time.
It is annoying once you have found a site, to have to register, or log in!

I like to check out older blogs using a simple google filter, as this will sometimes indicate higher traffic blogs due to their age (although this correlation is not always there). There are those occasional goodies.

There is one other thing that you can do, and I didn't saw that anyone suggested that in this thread... go with Google Alerts, setup this tool for your keywords and get notified about new blogs matching your criteria... then you can visit them and leave your comment... works good if you ask me... also, with Google Alerts you can do the same for videos too...

Yes there are many spam comments coming from people still using the out of date strategy to get backlinks. They have not figured out that spam comments pretty much just waste their own time.

You can USE FAVICON

The

image is neat because it makes the site stand out in the Bookmarks no?
Some cool browsers - like Firefox - also support this tag in the <head> section:

<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.gif" type="image/gif">

This allows you to use an animated gif -- called favicon.gif in this case -- to replace the static favicon.ico
Here's how you do it (for a static .ico file):

Make an image of 16 * 16 pixels.
Save it as an ICON file (.ico) extension with the name favicon.ico in the root folder of your Website. (The folder with your index.html file)
Done. It's that simple.
To also allow browsers that support animated gifs, add the following line to the <head> section of your HTML:
<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.gif" type="image/gif"> and, of course, make the gif file and place it
in the root folder of your site.

When someone bookmarks your site, the Browser looks for a file called http://YourSite.com/favicon.ico. If it finds a file it uses your file instead of it's default file.
There is lots of software out there that can save gif or JPEG images as an .ico file.
