Should I use adsense?

I wouldn't use adsense on your site, and here's why: When someone clicks on adsense, it only gives you a little bit of money, and it drives them away from your site.

If you are trying to sell or promote items on your site, it's best not to use adsense, unless you just put it on article pages, and even then, I'd only use it at the bottom of the page.

Look at it this way, would you rather get a sale, or a few cents from adsense?

That's a horribly false dilemma. Adsense pays you everytime you get a click. Sales OTOH are not guaranteed. Especially in a recession, money earned where the user doesn't have to whip out his credit card is a lot more valuable.

TC: Do some testing. If adsense gets you more money, go with it. If not, stick to your own affiliate links or products.

It's up to you to decide, an additional little income source won't hurt you, just remember to filter the competitors that use adwords.
Why not try it first, if you don't like it, you know what to do.

I do want to suggest you to cloak your affiliate links, search the forum for this.

Well it depends on what type of site it is. If its more of just a free content site like a "blog" with no products on there to purchase then adsense will work for you.

If its a sales page set on trying to sale a specific item I would say "NO" because you will loose some sales from people clicking away from your page on adsense links.

If it was me, I would use adsense regardless. It can generate a nice sum if used on multiple sites.

I agree. I use Adesense even on my Blogs that center around Affiliate Products. It doesnt seem to detract people from signing up for my Optin and Affiiliate products.

Adsense can really boost your confidence up because you dont need much traffic to start earning !!

you need to check in through your targeted visitors that is your website so much capable that it can provide visitors to adds on your website.........still google does this study from its end and only approve if your website is capable enoughto drive traffic.....

@Burtie - My browser was just having problems resolving to your site. From what you have written in the forum it sounds as though you may do better with product promotions as oppose to contextual ads.

I wouldn't use Adsense, we tested it on several shopping sites and overall income always dropped without a single exception...but it depends on the topic, not sure how much those self help clicks pay.

I sorta like adsense...

But. Your site may do better without it, just selling the products.

Once you have a fair amount of traffic, I'd suggest to test with, and without adsense and see what makes you the most money. (Placing, and using the right colors of course.) What is in your pocket at the end of the month is all that matters.

It sure is a balancing act.

High EPC but hard to get traffic...
Low EPC but easy to generate TONS of visitors...
Low conversion on aff prods. make more on adsense...
High conversion on aff prods. but commission is low, and the adsense clicks win...

Testing is the name of the game.
