If you try blogger, you certainly will have an advantage since blogger being a google product.

Do you already have an adsense account? If not, its better to try blogger as you can directly apply for an adsense account from your blogger account.

I'd always go with Wordpress. But thats because i've being using it a few years.

Try both and see what you like best.

I've not used blogger. but with wordpresss you can search and upload plugin right from the control panel. I love this

Thanks for all the feedback!! Can I put affiliate links and adsense on the blogger? I understand I should still have a domain with the blogger.com site do I host that also? I have heard stories of people working so hard on the sites and have them stripped away?

In my opinion go with blogger because we know that blogger is owned by google and it contains nice CTR.

Perhaps in blogger you will find nice places to place adsense which will go like WOOOHOOOO

Blogger is the best free blogging platform on the planet.
There are a lot of myths, but if you want a truly free webpage,
no ads from the owner, blogspot is the way to go.

You can't put javascript on free wordpress, but you can do that
and more on blogspot. Blogspot comes SEO'd right out of the box.
No nonsense plug ins or other crap needed. Google makes it
oh so easy. They have it fully integrated and a no-brainer to
add amazon and adsense, as well as a plethora of widgets to
      do anything and everything.

When will you guys learn that anything that is FREE has major drawbacks, and don't put too much trust in Google they are out to make money from you. Both Blogger and WordPress.com can and will delete your blogs without warning from breaking their terms and conditions.

If you are wanting to earn money from a blog you first need to plan. What do you want to advertise or what you are interested about. Research this market find a selection of keywords.
Purchase a domain name containing you main keyword.
      Purchase a hosting package
      Install WordPress from Wordpress.org.
Build your blog with keyword rich content
      Submit to Google
Start building backlings and continue doing so for the rest of your life

You will not get rich quick but over time you can create a decent income

Are you allowed to put adsense up on a free wordpress blog? I could be wrong, but I thought that was against their terms of service.

I think Wordpress is a bit better for customization uses but Blogger is probably better in terms of SEO value over time etc. Google tends to value their products over others...

Since Google runs Blogger it makes more sense to start off with this instead of Wordpress if you are just starting out. (Easier to apply for and get an Adsense account too if you don't have one yet.)

It really depends how much time and effort you are willing to put in.

If you are just creating a niche blog to get people to click on your adsense account, then blogger should be fine. However, if you are creating an authority site, that you expect to have hundreds of posts, 2 or 3 times per week.....then DON'T USE BLOGGER.

    1. Blogger is owned by Google and they can pull down your blog at any time and shut it down.

    2. A selfhosted Wordpress site is owned by you, you can back it up on your own servier

    3. The amount of plugins available for a self hosted site is ridiculous. You don't have to be a coder and you can virtually get a plug in for anything you might want to do.

    4. Themes - the them options for a self hosted Wordpress site are endless. Literally thousands of themes for Free.

    5. Most of the Warrior Special Offer Plug-ins that are really cool ways to earn money are on self hosted Word Press sites

    6. A url that doesn't have the "blogspot" in it is much more trusted and taken serious then a blogspot that you know someone got for free.

    7. No matter what anyone tells you transferring later is a pain in the butt. You will lose all of your back link power and branding.

    8. Like Satrap said, the SEO plug-ins are super sweet on Wordpress. You can be ranked for several keywords really fast if you are frequently posting about one topic.

All 8 of points are not valid if you just want to set up a happy blog to post family pictures or an occasional recipe. But for serious blogging, get a full blown wordpress site and get down to business.

    Good Luck

Great information. If you are looking to do this as a little hobby and not something to serious, sticking with blogger is nothing bad. The one good thing about wordpress is that you can set up many different blogs, and once you get the hang of it, it will not take you that long. It is all up to what you are wanting and what your plans are for the blog.

If you are a blog newbie and want to earn using Google Adsense, you must start blogging using blogger.com. It is advisable for the newbies, plus it is easy to manage and use. Aside from that, Blogger, like Adsense is a product of Google, so you won't have to study lot.
