The consequences of copyright violations/illegal activities as a webmaster for non U.S.A. Citizens?

As an asian webmaster I always wonder what may be the consequence of doing illegal activity such as copyright violation. I have not done anything wrong yet, I'll not do anything wrong consciously but I'm afraid of doing something wrong without knowing that it is illegal?.... So what may be the CONSEQUENCES?

    Yeah I have a few popular websites and have come across people who think because they're in a non-US country they can get away with anything.

    Lucikly Google has made it easy to report and get sites & pages de-indexed for copying content. There's also similar forms for Adsense. So you hit them where it hurts.
