Hi,

I am planning to change the hosting of one of my website due to lack of features. The site currently ranks in top 10.

Will the change of hosting IP has any effects on rankings and SEO?

Thanks

It might, especially when the IP appears to be in a different geographic location or is part of a group of IPs that are known to be used for p0rn sites or sites with bad reputation. When transferring your site, be aware of the propagation period as well. Transferring a site causes down time which crawlers might interpret your site no longer exist when they learn it's not viewable and drop it from the ranks.

There have been several reports recently about Google factoring the speed of a site in to rankings. So if one host is faster that could now affect rankings.

I changed a lot of my site's hosting account in the past months, never saw a change in rankings that might have came from change in hosting... Of course, if the new host sucks and your website has a lot of downtime then of course it might affect rankings but if they both are of the same quality, I see no difference.

I have had some sites fluctuate after changing hosting, but they always ended up settling to where they were before. Maybe it was just coincidence, but I don't think host changing should have too much of an effect, as long as it is a quality host.

Yeah, your site can suffer from changing hosts but often if the change is swift and no downtime is lost you may jump around in the SERPs before settling to your original position.

Here's a tip; look at your website visitors history and find out when the bots typically crawl.

Switch hosting between these times and ensure the bots don't crawl while your site is down!

Yes, hosting does effect your website rankings.
    - If you are switching to a fast host, it improves user experience of the website
    - Location of your host influence your rankings in case of geo targeting
