COM/NET/ORG Domain Extensions for SEO and My 2 Cents

Good evening warriors, let me share my 2 cents about domain extensions for SEO & marketing.

In the beginning of the internet there was .COM. Then came .Net and .Org.

ICANN, the authority for names and numbers wanted to categorize the sites with these names. Like COM for business, NET for network/internet related and ORG for non-profit organizations. But people started to take COM for granted, and more and more sites are being named with a DOT COM on it.

ICANN also assigned more names like INFO for informations/wiki sites, EDU and GOV for education and govt. sites, BIZ for business and MOBI for mobile sites.

Domain authority wanted to make it even but things went differently. People started to get .COMs for all of their website needs. This is the popular extension ever.

So I would suggest you to go for a DOT COM at any cost. Say you got Malaysia.travel -good domain right? Tell your mom to type it in and she will put a .COM to it.

Every one else in the world is not so tech savvy like we are, so from a marketing standpoint, go for the one that the masses understand.

Some SEO suggests ".COM ranks well and .INFO does not"

-maybe because .COM is universally accepted and this is why it is better to market, not just building links.

-some say "All domain extensions are same"

-if this is correct, then .EDU and .ORG are no different than a .COM link. The only difference is that EDU and GOV have big sites that pass better value to the links.

The bottom line is, get an easy to type and spell .COM domain name. People will love to market it and feel confident when replying your email from that address.

Millions of domains in .COM are gone, no worries, everyday lots of domains drop so they become available again for registration.

These were my 2 cents, feel free to put your feedback or correct me for any mistakes. Thanks!!
