Will Product Review Sites Survive After Recent Panda Update?

With the recent Panda update, we have seen authority product sites such as nextag, amazon and eBay occupying the first page of Google. I am wondering, is it the end of affiliate review sites?

Can we product review sites still survive?

I still see alot of product review sites for every product I search for on Google. My own are doing alright too (although a few did drop rank).

It might be a bit harder to rank product review sites in the future but it's definitely not the end.

15 of my Amazon review sites are unaffected by all the recent Google updates. I have only noticed a slight drop by a couple of positions on two pages.

Thankfully by biggest earning Amazon sites have remained cemented to the #1 spot.

I don't feel that safe though as I've heard of & seen perfectly good sites being dropped. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing & hope my success with Amazon review sites continues.

What is your main methods of link building?

Many people are saying that the latest panda update effects sites which don't have "natural" link building.

Most of my sites have moved down the rankings, but not by a significant amount.

If I'm honest I did lose a few sites, while the majority were fine and I have a lot of Sniper sites sitting on top of Google and Amazon sit under me, I have yet to work out why some went and why others stayed when in reality they were very similar.

My Authority sites were not affected at all

People use too much time to worry about things they can't do anything about.
Instead use your time to develop different type of websites, to prevent a Google update to hit all your sites at once

For a while after the last update I thought that all review sites were affected. Mine was, it became virtually non-existent in the serps last week.

Anyway, I just did what I normally do: build links and put in quality pages of review content. The site just bounced back up today. Try checking yours, I hope the same thing happened to all of your sites. It would be great to hear good news from you guys too.

To my knowledge all of my Amazon sites seem fine... I normally stay up to date with this stuff!

Has anyone got any info on the changes of the most recent Panda update?

    Chris

P.S How's this for a Google Panda joke:

Why did Google call it the "Panda" update?

Because after the update a lot of people wanted to give Google a black eye!

How old are your authority sites? Just wondering if age is a primary factor for the sites effected.

The sites which are dominating the top slots now seem to be authority sites such as amazon, next tag, etc..

So far my review sites are fine.

There are so many product review sites in the SERPS, almost every product related KW you put into Google you will find a review site. If they were on some hit list those would be gone or start to seriously dwindle away...havent seen that yet.

I had a few that dropped in rank, but others stayed the same and even moved up. Things might get a little tougher out there, but you just need to adapt and move forward.

Right now I'm going to try to analyze what the difference was in my sites that dropped and those that stayed the same or moved up.

I can't imagine why Google would want to put an end to review sites. After all, if you're providing genuine information to your readers, what could you possibly be doing to get hammered by Panda?

I think that, if you've seen a real significant drop after Panda, you need to take a strong look at what kind of content is on your website, rather than what kind of website it is.

I agree with Nicole. All Google wants is to provide readers with quality content. As long as you are doing that, you should be fine.

Well, take a close look at Amazon pages. They very rarely provide in-depth information. A few sentences here and there, but not really any length to it which Google would easily deem as shallow content. The quality of the content is what Panda is going to be hurting, not whether or not it's a review site. Then again, I could be proven wrong but I highly doubt it.
