Just curious if any of you have had success with 1 page websites especially post Panda? I am wondering if 1 page really high quality sites are a viable business plan, rather then large sites. I have had some of my highest quality sites slapped by Panda and think the smarter move may be in smaller but high quality sites. Anyone with any experience with this that they can share?

Personally I think you should have more than one page, even if you add separate about or contact page. I don't think search engines consider one page websites as the most trustful ones.

I think you should add more pages as it will increase the reliability and effectiveness of your website.

Guys I am not looking for opinions on what you think. I am looking for someone with experience with ranking 1 page websites. I appreciate the opinions but I am looking for facts.

I'll be able to give you facts in about a months time. Two weeks ago I built a one page site targeting a 46000 exact match keyword plus a few other long tails. The site is currently sitting on the 5th page and it should take another 2-4 weeks for me to get onto the 1st page.

The homepage of the site was created following the Wiki format. I produced a 5000 word article, inserted a table of contents for the various subscetions and I also kept the comments section open so that content on the page will always be updated. This is just a test to see what happens. Will let you know how things turn out!

If your web site has only one page people who visit will never come back again unless it is a search engine or a similar site.

More landing pages, more title tags, more keywords, more content and ultimately more traffic. I don't think we can achieve much with one page site.

I am wondering if 1 room really high quality hotels are a viable business plan

On a serious note, what are you trying to achieve, what are your goals?
Do you want to create value to visitors, so they will voluntarily link to your one pager and spread the word or are you trying to spam the hell out of the search engines? Would you build that website (page) if there was no Google?

Sure a webpage can load dynamically all the content in DIV tags with JS or Flash and users always stay on the same page. So a "really high quality" one page sites are not impossible. And even one page flash site may rank high because of all those natural backlinks. And this is esp. true after Panda.

So I am just curious if your highest quality websites slapped by Panda are those from which visitors flee in a seconds. Cause Panda defines quality websites by the time visitors spend on that website (among few hundred other factors)

Yes,with one page we can not attract visitors as well as SEs.So the best practice is to add more pages on website.Try to optimize pages for different-different keywords.
    Thanks

I have always been curious about the viability of one page sites. I've never put one up because I have build blogs with at least 20 posts. I've thought that the one page mini-sites might work if a person continually put up new one. I mean put up twenty or thirty each day in an effort to stay in front of things like the Panda update.

Doe anyone with experience making a lot of the one-page sites have any track record that would indicate the lifespan of these types of sites?

    Many thanks.

I had a large site that has recently been changed to a 1 page site that directs to other sites (same in different languages). It ranks rather well for a top keyword which quite weirdly it did not before when it was a 15,000 page website
