I no longer do SEO, but I have a few old sniper sites that are making me an extra $40-$100/day. But with all of the panda updates, I not going to depend on that income for much longer.

Have you had success in the past with sniper sites?

Do you have one site per product or do you create authority sites?

I think it's only a matter of time before they don't work as well and I also think it's getting harder to find keywords to snipe (with low competition).

I noticed in the past few weeks most of my sniper sites have dropped in ranking significantly.

The model, these days, may not be sustainable for the long run however, if you can get traffic and convert that traffic, you'll still see some success. I have a few sniper type sites (not the exact structure) which make $300-500/mo with CB.

Only thing is they rank #1-#3 for the target keywords and the target keywords are very good (both in terms of conversion as well as traffic). The important thing with the exact sniper model is doing your keyword research right ... if you don't, no matter how you rank a site, it's not going to make a lot, if anything!

    what are sniper sites?

I have been away from the warrior forum for quite the while, and just came back last month, and have heard this term thrown around a couple of times.

    Thanks

Yes, they're definitely still working. I don't really focus so much on sniper sites anymore (although I still have a few) but I see SO many 1-5 page sites still ranked highly in Google.

I don't believe they're a good strategy for the long term, but they're so quick to build it doesn't matter to most people that they might not be around next year or the year after.

Google's been so volatile this year I've spent alot more time working on my authority sites. I've had sniper sites disappear from page 1 of Google only to reappear a few months later. I still love SEO but it's alot harder to build a long term sustainable income with sniper sites than it used to be.

A sniper site is essentially a mini-site with around 3-5 posts targeting a specific keyword.

The term comes from George Brown's "Google Sniper" course.

They're basically exact match domains for keywords.

I was surprised to find one of mine on the 1st page of Google for my keyword yesterday...I had forgotten about it since creating it! So I guess it can still work, but it took a lot of time to get there and I'm not sure if its just temporary or not so I don't like to make them any more...instead I try to focus on doing things I feel like will have more lasting effects.

They do still work, I have several that are still ranking well. However you never know how long that will last. For the most part now I build out all my sites, I guess you could call them authority sites. I think over the long term it is probably better, plus you have the benefit of tons of traffic across a wide variety of keywords.

I completely agree. I have very good success with Sniper sites, but spending some time establishing them as mini authority sites definitely helps them stay ranked (and I hope will keep them relevant for the long run no matter what big G does). Of course the key to start with is following the Sniper keyword criteria to a T.

i have 3 sniper sites that i builded over thids past month, the second one touched the first page for two days after 5 days of being created, then it got pulled back to second page and it stud there, no matter what i do i can't put it back on first page. the other ones are sailing around pages 4 and 6.......what other methods do you recommend for building sites or making money online??

  • Due to Googles Panda Update, "Sniper" type sites are going to not be doing to well in the future. I also have lots of Sniper sites that do well. But the majority of them are falling in the ranks quite rapidly. Google wants Quality sites with great content and more than just 3 pages.

I think sniper site can't work at all. But it can do before 2011.

I think you will find Raja that these sites are only going to work long term if they offer something of real value to the visitor other than a way of making money for you.

I spoke to a guy recently who had over 70 of these de-indexed and I too had one 48 page site de-indexed, for no reason other than it was just reviews linking back to Amazon.

It took me three months to build that site I am just glad I did not have a hundred.
