AdSense Code Javascript Error - Site not earning!

Hi everyone,

I've got a website with over 700 posts that I have AdSense on. This site has been live for 2 years now, but it doesn't earn anything from AdSense despite having a lot of visitors every day and dozens of top Google rankings. I thought it was my design/layout, so I changed it 6 months or so ago. Within the last month, I removed affiliate ads from the sidebar thinking that was distracting from the AdSense ads, but nothing I do helps with the CTR. I've been totally stumped on why it has not.

Tonight while making my logo smaller (to try and get more above the fold website real estate), I happened to notice an error message in Firebug that says:

Unable to post message to http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net.
The ads are showing, but they don't earn... I'm wondering if this error is preventing the clicks from being registered by Google?

I searched online and found others having this problem, but cannot seem to find a solution.

Has anyone else encountered this kind of error and situation with your sites? I have a feeling I've missed out on a lot of income because of it.

My site is a WordPress site and I'm using the Why Do Work AdSense plugin.

Thanks for reading and I hope someone can give me some advice...

    Hi GraphicsGurl,

One very common problem is the hijacking of AdSense earnings by sneaky plugins that swap out your publisher ID with their own. This is particularly common for AdSense websites built on the Wordpress platform. Have you checked to see if your publisher ID is the correct one when you view the rendered web page's source code?

A telltale sign is when your Adsense Impressions are significantly lower than your page views for pages with AdSense ad units. Have you checked to see if your server logs jibe with your AdSense reports?

As a victim of this myself, it's definitely something that needs to be looked out for and precautions must be taken to avoid it.

If you know which one of those pages is getting the most traffc you can pause the plugin for a few days and see if you get clicks. If you do than there is a prob with your plugin and you should probably ditch it and get another plugin or uninstall and reinstall the current plugin and try again.

      Thankyou everyone for the advice!

I removed that plugin and installed a different one. I also re-generated all of my AdSense code and then replaced all of the old code on the site.

I'll wait a while and see if that helps at all, hopefully it does.

While replacing the old AdSense code, I noticed that the old code used "pub-my publisher ID, while the new code uses ca-pub-my publisher ID. I wouldn't think that would matter, but I thought it was interesting.

I'll update this thread when I know if the changes I made are helping or not.

      Have a great day!
