Why Adsense website owners sell their website?

Hello Warriors,
I saw many peoples who claim that they have made thousands of dollars or earning $10-$100 daily from their adsense website, sell their adsense website for the price which they can earn in just few months from their adsense website as of what they claim they have earned or earning from website.

Whenever i find such website for sale, one question comes in my mind always that why they are selling their money making website? As of what i know such websites don't require maintains as they are autopilot.

I saw few peoples who do this work as a business. Just look at Complete Web Sites For Sale!
section of WF.

Regards,
Ajay

Most people who sell their adsense websites on Flippa sell them for 10-15x their monthly earnings. Some people need the money now to fund other ventures so they sell them.

People in the websites for sale section that you referred to are in a similar position. They would rather get money up front rather than have to wait a few months to get it

I've seen a lot of 'adsense' websites on flippa like this ... only wanting 1-2 months revenue for them...

I also notice most of them have the same kind of screen shots .... ie old adsense style screen shots .... also you'll notice a LOT of them don't show you referrer stats ... and if they do the biggest traffic type is 'direct traffic' or referring traffic from some website(s) you've never heard of before ... you really should stay away from sites like this for obvious reasons.... The seller uses the sites for x number of months then sells it cheap to get rid of it fast because they know google will ban their adsense account sooner rather than later with this type of traffic.

Unless you can verify that the majority of their website traffic is coming from search engines, you are going to be ripped off.

    Cheers ....
    Gerald.

Thanks Gerald, actually what you explained that was the main reason of my confusion but the reasons explained by Andrew were genuine which made me to think again and here you came to clear my doubt more specifically.

Most of the ones that are services in Complete Web Sites For Sale aren't making a nickel, in spite of the "Huge Potential" claims. They are startups and as such, whether or not they ever make a dime will be up to the new owner.

As for the legit, already earning Adsense sites, usually they go for at least 10-12 x monthly income on Flippa. I can easily see why people build them, get the income going and sell for a nice big payoff. I'd much rather build sites that maintain and keep them.

The Adsense site that makes money this month or year, may not make anything next month or year. Times and trends change and Google screws around with the serps constantly.

Someone asked me to check out an Adsense auction on Flippa that was going fairly cheap considering it claimed $406/mnth income. I looked at it and it was fake Adsense screenshots. It wasn't that it was the old style Adsense ... I still use that and I'm not changing until they make me change. It was a complete font mismatch both in size and font.

Yeah, even i have seen few actions in Flippa where earning screenshots were looking fake ...

Also few website owners claim that they are getting thousands of unique visits a month but that was not from search engine. And referrers for traffic were not shared. That made me to think there is something wrong.

I think different then this. I have purchased many sites from Flippa which were making money with adsense. First I make sure that traffic is from search engines and then I look for some affiliates products related to that niche. Purchase these kind of websites and convert them to affiliate sites and get my money back with in a month some times

Yes that's true that i can i mean we can make such websites, but the prob is only those people who have knowledge and experience can do it or else it is very hard for newbie to create a website which can receive good traffic & generate good income autopilot .

One thing you can do is always go with escrow payment and add as a clause that part of your testing and site acceptance will be for the current owner to put your adsense code on their site so you can verify traffic and income claims.

Never tried it myself, but just thought of it now as something anyone could do to minimize risk.....

Usually people want to invest more, in another order they sell and earn a bigger profit for a larger projects.

There's no reason why a adsense owner stop his way from earning more right?

    Quite simple though......PROFIT!

They sell Adsense websites on Flippa, Sedo, NamePros, DNForum in order to get profit from their efforts in building the site's content and traffic.

On Flippa, the website must have already earned, or not sell x10 ox15. So the seller has to spend time.
On Flippa have to pay for each site for sale $ 19.
If you want the first page, $ 40 others. A total of $ 59.
On Flippa must then pay the final commission.
To raise cash immediately, with a website is not yet established, better to sell on WF.
Why do you sell? To raise cash for other projects at once.
Sell as on Flippa (a website that has no proof of income do not sell x10 or x15), but the seller does not spend all that money as on Flippa.

There's no guarantee that money making machine will still be a money making machine in 12 months.

Also, some people find that building sites is far easier (and therefore more profitable) than maintaining them.

Welll the way I always think of it is like property.

If you have an investment property lets say you renovated it and its worth more or possibly you built it from scratch you then have 2 options.
      1. Sell the property for profit
      2. Rent the property out
It is the exact same principle it is a case of fast profit (sell it and free up cash) or smaller long term profit and keep it for the long haul.

Thats the way I see it anyway

Most people selling sites on Flippa for just a couple months claimed revenue are simply liars. One way or another those guys are usually misrepresenting their earnings or the earnings were gained using deceptive tactics that won't last long.

I flip all the time and always ask for at least 15 X monthly revenue for established sites. I do sell start-up AdSense sites like this one ending today at http://Flippa.com/2656607
but the price for that site and other similar start-ups is based on the cost of creating good original content for the site, creating an original design/logo, and custom coding.

well, with my experience, there are mainly two kinds of reasons:
one is, they find more good business plan, and do not have enough energy on their adsence.
the other is, this is their business. they work to develop it, and sell it. and then. develop another, then sell....

i usually take those earnings claims with a grain of salt since they can be easily forged. heck, i can show u my adsense account making $435,201 a day since that can be faked.
