Hello fellow Warriors. I've had my website up for about a year now and I think its broken. It's stuck around page 6 on Google. I think it has to do with canonicalization of the url's but I'm not sure. I'm not a technical guy and can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The url to my site is woodplanersworld.com. Thanks in advance Warriors.

Jim

@LMC. Site is about 1 year old. I have built a link wheel, done some manual backlinking and used a paid backlinking service similar to Paul and Angela's service. The homepage is stuck on page 7 of Google for the keyword wood planers. Thanks.

Are you still building back links even though the ranking is seemly static?

You can't just build some links and then stop.

Yup you have to keep building links and adding content doesn't hurt (but isn't necessary).

Also do you promote the site on Facebook or Twitter at all? Google loves when there's buzz about your site

Without delving deeply into your site, at a glance the keyword "wood planers" appears just once on the home page, which appears to focus on the term "hand planer" instead.

Content is the key - there is very little on the home page. Add more text content both above and below the merchandise. Maybe under the merchandise write about what a wood planer is and what it does.

Add a page dedicated to talking all about wood planers. Their advantages, disadvantages, different types, powers, costs etc. Write everything you know about wood planers. Google loves unique content - it isn't interested in the ads you are displaying from Amazon!

If you are just on p6 of Google you need to get serious with both on-site and off-site seo.

Write some articles and submit to directories. Get yourself a hubpage, a squidoo lens, a blogspot blog. Find some woodworking forums and TAKE PART (as in don't just join and spam your link)

Keep adding new content to the site - reviews of planers, some woodworking hints and tips etc.

      quickie advice

change your title tag to "Wood Planers World" Get rid of "welcome to"

and build links, lots of links, or better yet buy some services here. You are only showing 25 in Yahoo

I would shoot for a minimum of 2500

Your website might have been penalized by Google...

Before you spend any effort/time/money on the site, you should do the following:

Step 1 - get Google webmaster tools for the website (if you don't have it already)
Step 2 - file a "reconsideration" request from within Google webmaster tools

You will receive an answer from Google regarding the status of your site (within a week or 2).

If the answer is that the site is ok - add more content to the homepage and do some link building - you'll see your site climb up the search results.

If the answer is that the website violates Google's quality guidelines - save your time and efforts and promote another website instead.

    Hope that helps!

From what I can tell, you have done little to no backlinking.

Sure, you've got a couple blog comments from spammed to death EDU blogs. But, that's not gonna do the trick. Anybody can buy a couple Fiverr gigs and get the same links.

Ask yourself this question, WHY should your website rank well? What value are you providing for someone that finds your site?

    Here's are few recommendations:

Reduce load time, when I visited your site and went to another page it took roughly 30 seconds to load. No one, and I do mean no one, will wait for your site to load like that. Get this fixed ASAP.

Where's the unique content? Only under the articles section? The days of simple Amazon stores ranking and bringing in the cash like they used to are OVER.

You should add more unique content to your site. You should add articles that make users WANT to use your site and come back for more.

That's how you'll dominate this niche.

Want a shortcut? Get solid backlinks. Get solid content.

@REVSEO. Thanks for looking. I appreciate the constructive criticism. I realize I need to work on getting more backlinks. I stopped backlinking when I thought my site was broken or had errors. I had more content on the site but when I upgraded the website version last week some of it disappeared so I know I have to re-add that content and create more unique content as well. Thank you for your input.

I do have one question for you. How do I reduce the load time? Do you have any tips? Thanks in advance.
