I'm confused in both of these so that I can decide where to focus more so that I can have more backlinks..I had seen that forum posting seems easy than blog posting. And also there is a problem with blog posting that even you can get high PR backlinks from blog posting but you cannot make anchor text similar to your keyword bcz it can get removed after moderation...
plz give me a way out so that I can concentrate more on one of these ways...and also If you have another way out to make quality backlinks..plz share that too..

Hmm, neither is better than the other...

It all depends on what your competition are doing and what you have previously done before on your site.

While it is not feasible to check out all the links that your competition are posting to get pg1 results, a wiser action for your time would be to diversify between all methods of backlinking.

You need to create NATURAL link profile, doing just blog commenting for example is NOT NATURAL, Google does not expect a site to naturall gain lots of links through blog commenting while none are being created through forums, articles, social media, etc.

So this is why you really need to diversify your link building to rank.

Agreed - Another Tool that I have found useful is posting on BookmarkUniverse - Your Source for Social News and Networking. This site is designed to provide you active links and with an Alexa Ranking around 33,000 it sees huge traffic.

      Just a thought.

As long as your link is contextual i.e a nice block of text with your anchor in it (not signature links) then both are just as good. The reason is that a block of text is more valuable than a link outside the block.

I think blog commenting is as good as forum posting. Dofollow blog comments will be more helpful to get backlinks.

Both. Any kind of link is good - get all you can. However the more diverse your links are, the better. That goes for IP diversity, domain diversity, and also the type of links. If all your links were only from forum profiles, that would look suspicious, right? Of course. So mix it up. Wiki links. Blog comment links. Forum profiles. Social bookmarking account profiles. Bookmarks. In-content links on blog posts. Blogroll sitewide links. Footer links. Use your imagination.

Both are good for backlinks. If you want to do huge backlinking campaigns with software I suggest you to backlink your buffer sites and not directly to your main money website. Manual high pr blog commenting is also very effective.

But these are only 2 types of backlinks, you need many types of backlinks to succeed(of course depending on the competition) - like social bookmarks, web2.0, article submissions, link pyramids, high pr contextual links.

Both are having their own value. Blog Commenting Requires an appropriate and valuable answer you are giving to the blog post, then it would not be removed after moderation. Try to avoid saying " Wow good post" , " I m totally convinced" , " I appreciate your answer". This answers dont have any value, so it would be removed as it deserves.

Blog commenting for long term SEO benefits. Not the spammy "post to a thousand blogs at once" type of commenting. But actual high quality comments on dofollow blogs.

Forum posting for instant traffic. If you become an active member of a handful of niche related forums you'll be surprised how much traffic you can bring in from your signature alone. This is usually VERY targeted traffic, too.

Both these methods have there own value in Google's eyes.
Some might bring more traffic, some might bring less traffic.
Make sure U have combination of all the articles, directories, forum posting, blog commenting, profile links , youtube and other methods to rank well on Google.
Dont be reliable on just blog commenting or forum posting!!

Not sure if you are referring to blog comment/forum spam...but I'll assume your not for the benefit of the discussion....

Blog commenting, manually, should only be done on high PR blog post pages with low OBL. Speaking from an SEO perspective that is.

Forum posting on the other hand can be a bit more tricky, especially if its a high PR "topic". Why? Well pages with PR are generally a few months old, since that's when the last PR update was. That means you'll likely be bumping an OLD thread, and that pisses people off.

With blogs though its different, you aren't "bumping" the thread back up to the top and can still contribute to the blog post. That's the key though. Participating and providing helpful information. A blog owners not gonna approve some general crap comment like "I very much like this, I favorite this blog post, thanks!"

Don't take the easy way out, find good blogs/forums to post to, and provide helpful feedback and you should be fine.

Thanx to all the members who shared there valuable time here...what I understood after this discussion was to concentrate on all fields like forums, blogs, articles and social bookmarking...
I have 2 more questions to put up:
1st-If talking about forum posting, should there must also be some diversity like"not more backlinks from same forum"??
2nd-"As it is said that quality is better than quantity...and what we can get from forum posting is mainly quantity...but we can make out some quality from blogs..."
    share ur views??

Dude, you need to do some more research before you say anything about my backlinks. My blog has a PR 2 now.

And, having a link in the signature is not always for having links. Its for getting traffic.

Blog commenting is better, but as always, the blogmaster will moderate it first.
Just manually comment a few blog, and for the first comment, just say anything you like about their blog and dont put backlinks yet. Later, when you comment their blog again, its time to put yours.
Blogmaster always delete any spam comment with backlinks, especially new registered user on their blog, same as me. But I wont delete their comment if they keep on commenting good things about my site.

As long as your comment is adding value then both are good, and you will see traffic from your comments.

You only need to worry about your link being removed if the comment is worthless - or the link is spammy.

Both are good for backlinking. Blog commenting on high pr blogs or even better high pr edu/gov blogs can boost your rankings if done correctly. Do not go for spammy blogs even if they are high pr. Provide good content or respond to other comments. This can help to get really valuable backlinks.

Forum backlinks can be bring in visiotors to your site if you post on related forums. Then you have a nice backlink and traffic. But this takes time and depends on your SEO and traffic strategy.

      just my 2 cents

Most people believe that commenting works and to be honest I avoid doing either. you are better advised to build your own blogs and forums and post to them with quality information backlinking to the sites you are promoting. You can also use classified ads and build one page websites on a regular basis to also build your own backlinks. you have full control of the anchor text using all these options.

I also suggest using Alexa rankings rather than PR which is outdated and probably will be dropped by Google in the near future.

What I found about your view a bit interesting was about the future strategy of PR losing it importance and arrival of a new platform for ranking on the basis of traffic..I will try to follow yours idea but I think it will be requiring a lot of labour and a lack of quantity..

In my opinion you should concentrate on your forum profile, rather then signature links.
If your profile page has a dofollow link to your blog, this is valuable. You can build many links to your profile by participating in the forum. The signature link is a nice 'extra', but will share the linkvalue of that page with aaaaalll the other signature links.
On your profile page there are only few outbound links to share the linkvalue with..

Very good thread. Definitely a LOT of work though. For people who work full-time, it's almost impossible to follow his system without outsourcing.

If you're short on time, I'd suggest focusing on smaller niches that don't need as much "work" to rank. Earning a bit, then moving up to higher difficulty niches. You can use a portion of your earnings to outsource.

Forum postings may send very some good quality targeted traffic to your website which convert like crazy. But you must provide useful information in your posts. I was reading in another thread today about placing your website/links in front of targeted people and not in front of google. And forum postings are the best place to do that. Simple, just check signatures of the warriors posting here.

There is something that you must know with link building, leave no stone unturn. Instead of asking which of the (blog commenting or forum posting) link building strategy to focus on, you will be better off combining both because the search engine loves diversity.

A lot of people say "do follow" when it comes to blog commenting but in real SEO you need both to be neutral and unbais in order to gain some love (ranking) thou do more of do follow for that counts more.

In stead of blog commenting and forum posting, why do you not try Social Blog Posting? It is an effective SEO method, especially after Google’s Panda Update. As they concentrate more on content-rich backlinks. For social blog posting, blogs are created and posted 100% manually and have IP changed so it can bring up to 3 back-links with 3 pairs of keyword/URL in each post. It is not a modest number. goodlinkbuiding dot com offers this service and I highly recommend this service to you

I think Forum posting is best for backlink. Here we needed the high quality to increase our site rank. And it will also depend on Dofollow or Nofollow. Dofollow backlink has a higher quality than Nofollow link. We can easily find the forum which are Dofollow instead blogs. Dofollow Blogs can't find easily and it is no more effective so Forum posting is better to create backlink.
