I have 2 affiliate websites in the casino/poker industry and I am not able to get rankings on them for months now - PR0. I am not doing anything shady and I got proper links from different forums and comments in my industry. I set most affiliate links on my site to rel="nofollow" and using Joomla. Artio(plugin) for SEF.
the websites:

casino-wizards.com
poker-wizards.com

Anyone has an idea?

You have very few backlinks, especially relative to your competition.

You Have very few links according to your competition. Build Links daily by changing to different ways like, Article Submission, Web 2.0 Submission, Forum, Blog Commenting, PR but all from High Page Rank.

Try this out for 1 month, you will feel the change and Results beyond your imagination.

Try to work out Manually, rather than mass linking.

this is a highly competitive niche.. you'll need a whole lot more backlinks, preferably build some websites around them and get a ton of backlinks to those sites and then link through to your $$ site from there..

You are going to have to build thousands upon thousand of backlinks over a period of time to become competitive with those sites. Make sure to use every single ethical strategy that you can to get the rankings you want. It is going to take some time. Good Luck.

You're not even in top 1000 list of Google SERP. This is very unusual because I used to handle few casino sites before though I must admit that I wasn't able to bring them to page 1 because of very stiff competition and I am not spending even a single penny to make it rank, but I was able to give it a good ranking.

As I have observe, you built links from blog comments. Almost all of 'em. Another thing is the number of nofollow links out numbered the number of "dofollow". You have to work on this first.

    - What's the purpose of comment form on the home page in casino-wizard? If I were you, I wouldn't put that one on the home page.

    - Redundancy factor (both casino-wizards and poker-wizards). You can make a separate page for the "top casino promotions" instead of putting it in the home page because as you notice, 4 out of 5 casino sites are already seen in the upper part of your home page. Very least of your visitors will scroll their mouse to the deepest part of your page just to see what's in it.

    - Big percentage of your links came from the same source for those two sites. We all know that diversifying your link building campaign will give you better ranking in SERP. I will not insist to you the relevancy, but if you want you can do it also.

So much for that. but for more ideas, you can check these sites though there are only few of them that I handled.

    Here's the problem....

I'm gonna assume that this is your first "rodeo" with SEO. Am I right?

What you are trying to do is jump into Formula 1, without any practice, without any prior experience, you went straight to play with the pros.

Catch my drift? I hate to be a Debby Downer here, but you bit off a bit more than you can chew with these niches.

I'd back off, and focus your energy on niches that you WILL see progress with. No sense in going after these niches right away. You'll never see the results you want to see that way.

Agreed go after easy keywords that still pay, when first starting out with IM/SEO.

Trying to rank a very competitive keyword before learning seo can only lead to frustration, which will lead to giving up on IM.

Completely right. I had a friend who started getting into SEO and decided his first site would be for craps betting... I told him the pitfalls associated with it but as most beginners do, he started trying to rank for these keywords because it was something he had personal interest in.

As suggested before, you need to sharpen your teeth. If you can make it creating content and links for keywords you do not have any knowledge or desire for you can make it for anything you want. That and the fact you need to learn where to invest your time and money.

I believe in order to rank for highly competitive words like gambling where affiliates are generating large incomes, you need to have a network of sites at your disposal.

You are in a very competitive niche and acquiring a spot in the top pages of the search engines will need A LOT of extra work and effort. Casino industry in the internet is a booming and lucrative business, so you must be patient and do some extra work to get what you really want.

Casinos and poker related stuff is always going to be super competitive. If you're not a veteran I would stay away.
