What in the world!!!!

Yesterday I discovered a new option in Google SERP for the user to block results from "this" domain!

I noticed that after I clicked the back button.

Now I haven't read anything about it on Googles blogs, but I am pretty sure this button will be used against you unless the "user is happy with your site".

It could be that Google is trying to make up it's +1 failure with this option.

  • I think it's used for a personal level now, for customizing your own search preferences in Google.

If we block an authority site a million times, would that block it too?

That's been around for a few months.

The thing is, the flow makes no sense IMO.

Once you open a SERP listing in a new browser tab/window, are you going to be so disappointed to go back & block the site/page in your personalized SERPs (I wouldn't)?

I wouldn't waste my time blocking, especially considering I might never do that same exact Google search twice in a lifetime.

Kind of a lame SERP option IMO.

    • I can't wait for the fiverr gigs to start popping up... Block your competitor's now.

      I agree with Yukon though.

The flow is really stupid. The ONLY way that I might consider going back and blocking something is if I got a virus warning going to the site.

I rarely do any searches logged into any Google account though either. In theory, it seems useful. In practice, I doubt it is going to get much use.

  • It's personal blocking. Unless Google is that stupid..
