Looking to make some videos capturing my screen on my computer. I've seen people talk about camtasia but it's expensive, $299.99. Anyone else have any other quality suggestions?

I know this might not be the appropriate forum but I couldn't find the right one. Plus, this is the forum I post in the most anyway. Most of you guys I talk to frequent it. So, if I upset anyone, apologies in advance.

Camstudio works very well. Jing works well for shorter videos and comes from TechSmith, the same people who do Camtasia.

My Screen Recorder is one of the best screen recording tools. Records your screen and audio from the speakers or your voice from the microphone - or both simultaneously. It's easy to use, and records directly to standard AVI or WMV format files. Perfect for tutorials and demos. Download here:

I ended up downloading Camstudio. Anyone have any tips on what editing program to use? Preferably free?

I just want to do basic edits such as audio and maybe zoom ins.

The old windows movie maker software for WinXP might work If you can find a copy.

The new windows movie maker for Win7 sucks IMO, since they don't have the timeline for audio/video editing at the bottom. Not sure why they decided to dumb down the Win7 version compared to the XP version.

For better performance you can use snagit or Camstudio studio.
