Google Page One Results Question

I did a Google search on several of my keywords and several of them were on page one. Needless to say I was pleased.

Accept that a little phrase at the bottom of the listing caught my attention and I wondered about the validity of the results.

Below the listing for my keyword was this: "From your Google Reader subscriptions."

I did do an RSS subscription from my site. Does the message "From your Google Reader subscriptions" mean that I am the only one seeing this listing on page one of Google? Or is my listing a "true" result that appears on other people's search results ?

In other words, does my RSS subscription to my own articles skew the Google search results when I search for the keyword?

Anyone have any thoughts or insight on this?

  • yes, your RSS feeds and past search history will affect the results. To work around this problem, search for your term using "Private Browsing" in Firefox.

    Hope this helps

  • I clear my history often when I am doing Google searches to analyze where websites are ranked. Make sure that you are logged out of anything related to Google and clear your history before you do a search. This will give you the actual keyword rankings without bias.
  • If you are using Google Chrome do it as an Incognito Window and do not log in to any Google Services.

This is one of the reasons I prefer to use the Rank Tracker function of Market Samurai to check rankings for my pages and keywords.
