Bounce Rate & CTR: Do they affect each other?

Hi all,

Was in the midst of upgrading some of my sites when I started to wonder if a decrease in bounce rate will lead to a decrease in CTR for my adsense ads.

I figured that if visitors are busy surfing my website they may overlook the ads. I really hope this is not the case as I am working towards lowering bounce rates and improving visitor experience.

Have any of you guys experienced any correlation between your bounce rates and CTR rates?

Would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance

      Hi asciscopecunia,

Yes, there is a correlation between CTR and bounce rates. Improving you content may lead to more page views per session and thus lower the CTR. This doesn't necessarily lead to lower earnings, but it might.

The real key to AdSense earnings success is to increase targeted traffic. If your bounce rate improvements are effective in increasing targeted traffic it should be beneficial to overall earnings. However, efforts to increase page views without increasing targeted traffic will generally not improve your AdSense earnings.
