There is so much debate you will never find a clear answer. I agree that the short answer is no.

The most convincing argument to register is .com is to increase the future resale value.

It's been discussed over and over. There's no difference between .info, .com, .org and .net. All of them have the same chance to rank.

I do think info domain is less popular than .com,.net and .org.Google only cares about the user's experience and the site popularity.Even though the seo work has the same effect on any domain.But for google's favor,I think you'd better to use the .com still if youwant to rank higher.

I don't see a big difference for rankings, but if you are trying to build a brand and want customers to return to your site better invest couple bucks more to buy a .com

People are used to it and will automatically type .com

I suggest you to go for .com or .org domains.

It will be depending on how the webmaster managed the .info site to get ranked in search engine, and i think it doesn't matter if it is .com .org and .info as long as the site is optimized well and not a spammer.

All have same value in google's eyes. All depends upon your SEO, Content, etc..

it doesn`t matter the domain extension, it ALL about competition, on & off page seo.
i had saw .info domain sold on flippa for 9000$. i had saw .info domains ranking 1# in google that gets over 1,000,000 visitors each month.
i think all this domain extension is bs. go buy yourname.info, add some content on it and search google for your name. it will be 1# in google.
of course .info will not rank well if you don`t do propper seo to your website. all this rumours about .info domains not ranking well came from people who don`t know how to do seo, newbies in internet marketing... they bought a .info domain because they`re afraid to invest in im and because it`s cheaper.
they didn`t got good results because they don`t know how to do it.

I have ranked some sites relatively high with a .info, but those were typically proxies.
I would suggest you just use a .com, .org, or .net.

My intuition is that their $1 price tag makes them overwhelmingly popular with spammers, and anyone else who doesn't care enough about a website to buy a better TLD.

In my experience with .info's, the only thing I've noticed is that they seem to take longer to get indexed, and seem to be crawled less. But that's probably a self-fulfilling prophecy, even with the best intentions its hard to get excited about a .info and spend as much time on the content and promotion.

If you're building a serious website...going to make a brand out of it, do lots of authority building, offline marketing, etc, then by all means go with .com simply because that's less confusing to the general public you're trying to market to.

But for any kind of seo work, or adsense sites, or anything else... there is no penalty or downside to using .info's

TLD matters a lot, its quite hard to get ranking with .info websites, you must try .org or .com site

.com is the best however you can get rank if you update with good content

Second comes .org
Close third are .net

Why to diminish my chance with a .info, and for just $7 a year, when I have so many good, great alternatives. even for the most wanted keywords, with domains already taken, you can add a stop word to your keyword and you will still get the full seo benefits of your keyword.

.Info doesnt carry as much weight with google and yahoo however it still ranks dont worry about it make sure you register with yahoo directory and the DMOZ also .edu links and .gov links will give you alot of juice and make up for the .info no problem

ive got a .info ranking # 1 since early October. So its stable. Answer is its easy. I never thought this woulda happened but I tried it and did it. So go for it.

No, it is not. You must write unique and fresh articles, do social bookmarking, article marketing, blogging, blog commenting, guest posting, yahoo answers, forum posting, video creation and use of social media.

Hi, when .info was released a while ago they were cheap so many spammers purchased them, Google noticed this of cos. Now that price has increased for these, so in my opinion less spammers will find them attractive now. I do not think google will penalize you using one of these extensions. If you publish good content it should be no different then a .com or .net or .org. In terms of a user remembering your domain name or resell value the .com followed by .net would be a better choice.
