Problems with Rank Tracker

Anyone here has the same problem as we are facing lately? The ranking of Rank Tracker is totally off than reality. I contacted their support and I don't get real solution. Not sure what Database Rank Tracker is checking, but my results in Google USA is totally different.
We are checking over 400 keywords per day for our clients, and all of a sudden ( and don't give me that Cookies and Cache answer) the ranking is different than all of our computers and our customer's computers.

Help please.

  • I've had that.

I just use Traffic Travis free edition. Much more accurate and free

    • Thanks but Traffic Travis only works on Windows and not MAC. Rather check 400 keywords manually than go back to Microsoft product
  • There are at least 3 different programs that I know of called Rank Tracker. Which one are you talking about?

    • Rank Tracker by Link Assistant

  • Hi Morphius, the first problem is that Google is cracking down on automated tools that scrape their search results. The second problem is the rise of personalization, so everyone is seeing different search results.

Our tool is a little different. We pull the rank out of the referrer, so it's not scraping Google. It can also get dozens of rank samples a day, depending on how much traffic you get to the keyword.

Here's more info on the rank tracking functionality:

  • We used Market Samurai extensively until they crapped out a few weeks ago. Checking 10 keywords at a time using our local computer just doesn't work for us. So, we signed up for Rank Tracker (Link Assistant) and it seemed like everything was great. However, the results are not accurate when compared on a number of different browsers and PCs; not to mention when we manually check the same keywords and domains in Market Samurai, we get completely different results.

My guess is that if once-powerful programs like MS and Rank Tracker are dying, then the other tracking software systems are too - you just don't know it yet. The only way to find out for sure is to sign out of Google and use a few different browsers to manually check.

I don't mind paying a monthly fee for MS. IF it works. Same with Rank Tracker - we're paying $157 a month, and it seems completely inaccurate. I wish Google would just come up with a price and serve us this data, as we all know that's what's coming. Once they have their hands fully under control of the data, they'll sell it. Hurry the F@#$ up!
  • I know this is an old thread, but did anyone figure out what's happening with Rank Tracker by Link Assistant?

The results I get are all over the place ... I'm spending more time double checking rank tracker results than I am sending reports to clients and doing SEO.

Did you move to a new piece of software or find some other solution?

Seriously? You have clients and you are using rank tracker?

My friend, let me help you:

Search Engine Ranking Reports – SEO Software for Daily Rank Tracking

This service is more accurate and allows your clients to log in and see their rankings 24 hours a day.

    • That looks like a good application, but I have to check over 1000 keywords/month. Rank Tracker costs $6.95/month ... to check over 1000 keywords/month at Authority Labs would require the Enterprise versions at $450/month.

I'll look at it a little closer, but that's a big leap in pricing.

Normally, Rank Tracker works just fine using the scheduling feature with private proxies so you don't bombard the search engines and get blocked.

Anyone else have something they're using and could suggest?

  • Yahoo option checked freezes it up.
  • Rank tracker showing different results if i personally seen on google. for example in one keyword google.co.in my ranking in 2nd position of 1st page but in RT its showing 10th position in 1st page. I rescan but didn't change.
  • In my opinion, the very best (and accurate) rank tracking program money can buy is Advanced Web Ranking. I've tried them all and AWR stands well above the others.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hey Paul, I downloaded the free trial of Advanced Web Ranking and I agree with you ... it's the best rank tracking software I've ever seen.

I can't believe I've never heard of it before. It's "head and shoulders" above Rank Tracker.

Still trying to learn all of the features, but a big THANKS for the recommendation! I'm going to by the enterprise version.
  • Check out SerpBook.com - it's light and efficient.
