Amazon And PPC

Can we use PPC for Amazon. Can we direct link or should we bring visitors to our landing page and then hope that they click through to Amazon.

  • Amazon TOS prohibit direct linking. AdWords is very stringent when it comes to affiliate sites.

    Build a site like the one below and you should have no problems with AdWords.
  • Yeah after the Google slap all direct linking to any Affiliate link is impossible. Builds an amazon shot and promote it that way but honestly PPC is not the best way to promote affiliate offers at least not Adwords PPC.

  • you can get away with linking adwords to amazon...because google is not going to ban amazon!

    but the quality score will be terrible (3, at best) because of all the clutter and noise on amazon pages

    best bet is to build a dedicated landing page to get the prospect excited about your offer, then click through to amazon with a 'buy now' or 'Gimmie!' button

  • Wrong. U cannot link to amazon from Adwords. Amazon will eventually ban you.

      You are correct, as of the May 1, 2009, affiliate agreement updates, which don't precisely say you can't do it but they do imply that you can get banned for it.

      Landing pages are required - and as wolfmiii pointed out elsewhere, they had better be good ones.

      Amazon pages have terrible quality scores, anyway
  • It would be awesome if they did allow it, but they don't. Unfortunately.
  • Just build a simple website, using WordPress. Then you should be right Make sure you do your research though ;P

    • If only it were that simple. There are very specific reasons why so many folks have their AdWords accounts banned.
  • If you love direct linking get on pof. You can direct link to anything there and the targeting is unbelievable.
  • I don't use POF so maybe I'm talking out of my a$$ but how effective can POF be? I mean, who is there to actually buy anything or complete any CPAs???
