Difference between bounce rate and %exit?

In google analytics we see there is column which shows bounce rate and % exit. I want to know the difference between them.

    I very rarely use analytics so I may be wrong in this instance....

    • Bounce rate is normally used to describe people hitting your site and backing straight out again.
    • Exit pages are the pages users leave your site from, so they may go to your homepage, page 3, page 21, page 7 and then "exit", so in that instance page 7 would be the exit page.
    Bounce rate is bad as there is no user engement and is a poor quality indicator.... "came, saw, hated it, got the hell out!"

    Exit implies some activity and is showing the page left the site from. That is not necessarily a "bad page" as it could:
    • answer the users question
    • link out to another resource
    However, it could be negative in terms of:

    • This is rubbish, im done with this site now
    So exit pages are worthy of attention, but not "bad". I mean, everyone has to enter and leave a site dont they...

    On an e-commerce site you would see your order confirmation ("thanks for ordering, your product will be delivered in 2 days....") page would show as being an "exit page" in your stats.

      Not all the time though. Sometimes it's, "Came. Saw. Got what I wanted. Need to go." Or "Came. Saw. That looks like a product I want to buy. Go to affiliate site."

    I think that bounce rates also means that a single page has been viewed, so it may not be bad for some sites, depending on the form. For example, if I do a research on Google about how to make takiyoki, I will click on a link and might get exactly what I wanted. No need to go further on the website.

    I personally think this is extremely hard to deal with. Yesterday my bouncing rate was at 54%, yet I received messages telling me that the website was great ... I wish people would post more comments, especially negative ones lol ><
