SEO Group Case Study

How does Home | 100% free online dating and personals with a difference - for singles | partner4real.com.au rank 5th on Google.com for a very competitive keyword "online dating". It does not have "online dating" in its title tag. At the moment it has "Home"! In the Google search results the title shows up as "Dating"... so, again, it does not contain "online dating".

Can anyone explain it? Obviously it will have something to do with volume of backlinks, but you need on-page SEO to rank for a competitive keyword. So, where are they getting their backlinks and how do they rank (and stay ranked) on page 1? This site has been on page 1 for a number of weeks, so it is not just a temporary "mistake" or "dance" by Google.

  • So, they are using hidden text and hidden title tags? Isn't that agains Google's TOS? Or are you talking about the meta keywords tag?
  • When I visit the page the title I see is "Home". The title in the Google search results is "Dating". The title that I see in the source code is ""Home | 100% free online dating and personals with a difference - for singles | partner4real.com.au".
  • Tried a different browser and I now see the same title as you do. Very weird. So, they change their title tag regularly?

They do not have "online dating" in their content. Panda update made it necessary to have a lot of keyword rich, well written content on the homepage. This site has somehow ranked well, whilst ignoring that.

So, must be strength of the backlinks. Anyone with a ahrefs.com membership willing to take a bit of a look and report back to us?
