Keyword selection question

I can't seem to find an answer about keywords in domains like this:

(Two exact match keyword phrases)

Example:

mydvdplayer dot com

dvdplayerforsale dot com

If the search volume for (my dvd player) is say 1,000/month exact match search and (dvd player for sale) is say 1000/month exact match search is it advantageous to get the domain name.

I understand the benefits of long tail keywords but am a little confused as to if combining two exact match keyword phrases in a domain name is the correct thing to do if say there is not exact search volume for

mydydplayerforsale dot com

It seems that if you optimize your website for the keywords you should in time gain traffic from the exact match

Is this thinking correct or not? It's a given that the keyword phrase (my dvd player) is already purchased for a dot com and is not available.

So, is combining 2 exact match keyword phrases in a domain name the smart thing to do.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • I have done it and from what I can see as long as you use the right stop words you should be good to go.

I prefer to use stop words at the end but you also want the domain to make sense.

    Just my opinion
  • As far as I know, the closer the domain matches the search phrase the more authority Google will give your site for that keyword. You wouldn't be close to having an EMD if you went with the URL you were going for. It is like the old saying goes, jack of all trades but master of none. I would just buy two different domains if I were you. It would be much easier to rank. However, if you're willing to put the time and energy into the domain you could definitely rank well for both... but do you want to work twice as hard for the same result just so you can have one domain? Not to mention, there are benefits to having two domains instead of just one (a non buyer on your first domain might look at your second one and purchase).
