Directory Submission Guidance Needed

Hi All,
I have few doubts regarding directory submission. As many say, after a website is launched the first link building method one should do is add the site to directories. But at the same time i read that one should submit the site only to related/relevant directories which belong to your niche.

So my question is like if i have a car rental site, can i add my site to all the directories? or whether should i add my site only to car rental/car hire directories?
Usually I add my site to directories by searching "free directories" or using parameters like (car rental "submit url") etc, is it the legit way of adding any site to a directory? or if anyone use different method to find a good directory or a directory that belong to my niche do share the same?
Should i consider page rank of the directory before submitting?
How to find a directory that has do-follow link?

    The procedure which you are following is perfect.. but general free directories should have AUTOMOTIVE Category if you not found car rental, car hire categories you can also submit in AUTOMOTIVE Category.

  • Directories have category so you can submit your sites in relevant category like your site is car so choose automotive if automotive is not exist so try another car related category. Submit url in relevant category or directory that is ideal.

  • i think directory submission should be done only for new website which need index from search engine. After getting index of website no need to do directory submission. Only you should be present on good directories only no need to be on every directory...
